I suspect the current Escalade is about as heavy and nearly as wasteful as either of these barges.

2-3 ton modes of personal transport ought to be something for show & shine  nights and the history books.

1967 generation Cadillac give up the concept of rear wheel drive and never again take over Germans... Good grief!

Great review and great cars...the glory days of Cadillac, when you could land light aircraft on the hood.
Lighten up Francis.....

So, out-West members, who's cutting a check for the now-for-sale Coupe?

I'd LOVE it, but no way a fifth car is being added to our fleet.  And sheesh, I'd barely be able to drive it, the thing uses so much gas.  But awesome to look at.  What an era

There's a place at 7707 Wallace Drive in Saanich outside Victoria where there's always some big 'ol Caddies parked in front.  I wonder if one of these cars was connected to that place.  You can see it and 3 cars in Google Street View.  Maybe this link will even work:
https://www.google.ca/maps/@48.5915356,-123.4217751,3a,75y,286.11h,80.15t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sZ78hMTHb54_8fH2729CgKQ!2e0?hl=en

Edit: if you rotate the street view you can see the person across the street from the Caddies has three Jaguar xjs'.

I almost bought a 76 Eldorado about 18 years ago. In perfect shape with low miles, but the brakelines were pretty rotted so I needed to haul it back to my place. I couldn't get a car dolly wide enough, and having it flat bedded was going to cost more than I wanted to spend on a car like that. 200hp and 400ft-lbs from a measly 8.2L engine.  ;D

If I had storage space I'd like to get one of the big arks, but I doubt either would fit in my garage.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Few years back I hit the buy it now on a eBay 1971 Eldo convertible. It had the 8.2 gas hog. What a unique driving experience, felt like driving a real boat, one finger over boosted steering, floaty bobbing ride motions, and whoa the cowl shake! The entire steering column would shake like crazy on our gravel road. Of all the somewhat cool cars I've had that Caddy was my kids favorite, it also attracted a huge amount of attention.

I thought the pics I had of it were gone forever, until my wife reminded me of our tinypic account

Nice.  It looks positively compact parked next to that (i'm guessing) F350 & trailer...

There is a part of me that would love to waft around in a yacht like that.  Especially now that gas is almost free... :P
