The latest news on this side of the pond seems to be 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat pushing 707HP with notorious fuel economy to match. Europe seems to be taking the opposite approach.

Dodge says that it would take only 7 seconds for one of the Hellcat’s fuel ports to fill a pint glass with the finest premium unleaded.

Europe is the world’s fastest growing hybrid market; sales increased by 34% in 2013, with the region accounting for 12% of total global hybrid sales.
Over the same period, European sales of Toyota hybrids have risen by some 43%, and 1 in 5 of all Toyota passenger vehicles sold is now a hybrid.

I get it. We definitely have a muscle car culture here. I'm sure the fact that Europeans pay as much as twice the fuel costs also plays a factor on vehicle purchases.
