Clever marketing.  Compared to a typical advertising campaign for a major company the cost of an entry level car is nothing.  One very happy customer and a huge number of of people going " awww, wasn't that nice of them. "

See Toyota, this is how you celebrate a dedicated owner, not give him an oil change and a grand if he decides to buy another Corolla.
Lighten up Francis.....

Head of Nissan Canada sounds very (Renault Parisienne French)..interesting.

Almost thirty years with a Micra....she deserves it !!! a new Micra that is.

Very nice. I wonder if they plan to put the Micra up on display?

See Toyota, this is how you celebrate a dedicated owner, not give him an oil change and a grand if he decides to buy another Corolla.

Kingsway Toyota in Edmonton did give a brand new Corolla back in 2003 to a lady with 995,000+ km on her 1990 Corolla. She was a social worker who drove kids all over the province thus the kms. Her transmission failed at 650,000km. The dealership proudly displayed that car on their showroom for awhile, not sure if it's still there or not.

I don't think it failed.  It wore out.  Lol.

Probably a better term, she was able to limp her car in 3rd gear to the dealership. lol.

Good for her!

Honda and Volvo have done similar in the past as well.

Nissan-Renault has an executive exchange program (not a joke) where they move top level executives and managers around to different business units. The executives do a stint in a foreign locale then bring what they've learned back to their home units.

Didier Marsaud, Nissan Canada PR, is from the Renault side of things as well. But, he's decided to stay in Canada long-term.

I'm interested in the basic version of this car but I hope I'd have better luck than we did with our '86 K-10 Micra.
Bought it used with 80,000 kms on it, the car was a complete money pit granted it was over 15 yrs old at the time though..

In 1996 I've bought one Micra for...100$ to use it as a replacement of my Tempo. Even now I consider it more fuel efficient than Smart with quite functional hatchback.
