My dad died a week ago. No funeral, no nothing. Until today.
Today was a "celebration of life" and it was held in the hangar of the Canadian Aviation Museum, amongst all the aircraft in the collection. He was on the Lancaster Restoration Team for the last 12 years.
It was pretty spectacular....compared to a sombre service in a funeral home. I think the one week cooling off period was helpful for many. I saw a few moist eyes, but otherwise it was a happy occasion.
At the end of the get together, the Lancaster Restoration Team asked if we could spare some of dad's ashes to mix in the paint when the Lancaster gets its paint job. A very nice tribute.
It was catered afterwards, still in the hangar. Though there's no way my dad would have eaten some of the bougie food items. LOL [emoji38]
All in all...a nice send off for my dad.
