Boy's college graduation is today..

Congrats!   what did he study?
Skilled Trades, Machinist.

Nice. Great trade to be in.
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

Machinist is a great choice, congrats. I ride with a retired guy (50) who built up a very successful machining business and sold it. Now he just does custom jobs in his own shop on his property.

Yea.

He has a side gig where he works for a company that refurbishes rail cars that haul vehicles.

And they are going to expand the business because of him. There were some jobs they had to outsource because they didn't have a machinist on staff.

Found this in my hedge today, what are the odds a 1971 plate is in there, same year I was born? WTF? Cleaned up good.

That's actually in really good shape, you sure it was in the hedge all that time?

No idea how long it's been in there, it was pretty dirty & cleaned up well. I've been in this house since 2009, so knows. I was in there ripping out the vines that are growing in there & spotted it. Let my pencil thin 18yr old work his way in & get it out.

Here's the hedge.

I'm a big cedar hedge guy.  Nice one.

AS for the plate apply for the ownership.  See what they say.  :D

If that hedge was in our neighbourhood it would be eaten right to the bare trunks as high as they could reach by the suburban deer herd. We call it "deer topiary"  ::)

We have a similar hedge between our house and our neighbours, so great for privacy and it looks nice.

Our youngest dog, Charlie, chews on and pulls off branches on our cedars to show anyone parking on the other side of the fence how vicious she is.   A couple of months ago the cedar fought back and she nearly poked an eye out on a stub of a chewed off branch.   Thought she'd have a scar under her eye, but it's healed up nicely.

Not sure if this really makes me all that happy, but I suppose it should. Finally back working officially today!! Signed my contract yesterday & back at er this morning. Fingers crossed that they keep me on & get their next wave of funding.

I did enjoy the 3 months off, tons of golf & a bit of home maintenance, but the bank account sure took a hit. Time to build up the slush fund again.

That seems like a good time of year to be off work!

Still, imagine after three months there's pluses to be working again (other than the money). One of my neighbors retired a couple years ago and he's still having a tough time adjusting

Well, if I did they probably would have found someone else. They need to get :censor: moving forward & organized.
