^^If it came down to it...I'd rather be able to get out of my own way with a V6 auto (or turbo 4) than a manual with a weak sauce engine.

No its not manual because there were other priorities.
If all those other items were met and manual was available I would have gotten it.
if ground clearance wasn't a requirement I might have been in a 2013 Mazda6 for less than $20k.
In regards to horsepower, what about your previous echo with 105hp? Do you complain about the lack of?
Was it UNSAFE to merge safety into highways?
Anyways I don't see how 184hp is considered low; a decade ago these 4 cylinders were running around 150hp.
