I'm sure Ron will love this article...

As much as I'd want Tesla to succeed and sell million EV's per year I fully agree with the article and they are totally screwed up as far as car manufacturing goes.

Much of what Toyota has done, the processes and mindset for manufacturing have been copied by other manufacturers and even other industries. Why? Because it works and gives you a competitive advantage.

The Kaizen mindset works from the CEO down to the guy sweeping the floor. It's so effective that even service only businesses are using it...even some hospitals for example.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

according to this https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2018-tesla-tracker/

it looks like they will need to double production in about six weeks to meet their next proposed target of 5000 units by the end of June - I wonder what the next revision will be as the odds of meeting this one are pretty slim?

If they start selling 5k per week TODAY, still won't be profitable by year end.

Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach the man to fish and he wakes you up at 5 in the morning.

to be expected

remember: Tesla is a high-tech company, like Intel or ASUS. NOT a car company like GM or Toyota.

Beta testing with your consumers, and releasing Alpha products to be improved "in the wild" is standard, even expected, practice.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Remember the crap Toyota used to be given for unintended acceleration? Now we have cars on autopilot crashing into stationary cars and trucks on the side of the road among other scary things they do... and it's business as usual  ::)
I wish Tesla best but I don't think it's OK for car companies to use their customers as test dummies or for people around them to participate unknowingly.

nope! Will send a follow-up email at the end of the week, and if no news after that will take it from there.

And the unintended acceleration thing was operator error - no car can overpower it's brakes - people looking to blame someone else for their driving error.  The autopilot car crashes are also operator error, but the car is actually now part of the problem, and you're right, no one seems to really think this is an issue.  WTF?

That one last week was particularly bad...

How in the heck can Autopilot not see a big, red, parked fire truck?

elon has played america.  he's played the system, he's just done such a great job of understanding and playing how badly america wants a new champion. he recognized that the product had to outperform regular petrol cars but it's just too bad he is so willing to cut corners.  it just feels like he bought into his own BS.

I think his ego plays a large part of this.  Yep.
