Nice! They could use a slightly detuned version of the GT-R engine.

I definitely think the GTR's engine is a good start...3.8L single turbo, maybe?  If not, then maybe back to the pre-2011 tune of 485hp instead of the current 542hp?

...or maybe a Q50 with 542hp...?

Any of those choices would work nicely. ;)

I think this is one of the sexiest sport luxury sedans around.

Pretty sure it won't be the GT-R engine.

My money is on a tuned, turbocharged VQ37 (a tuned version of the naturally aspirated version make ~350HP in the NISMO 370Z) making something like 450HP.  Using the VR38 would make the cost ridiculously expensive.

EDIT:  the sound is intoxicating.

i feel it is one of the ugliest....

but re: VQ37, i agree.   probably a twin turbo VQ. everyone's going twin turbo or something, so why wouldn't infiniti.

I'm thinking 500 hp is the goal here. TT VQ37 with a possible slight change in displacement.

I wonder if they might be doing something with MB's AMG division considering they have agreements in place for engine & platform sharing.

They could do a different version of the engine going into the 2015 C400 with some more ooomph.

From the sound clip, the startup of the engine definitely has a turbocharged burble to it, not to mention the blow-off valve sound on throttle lift off.  It also kind of sounds like a manual transmission with the delay in shifts and the blow off valve going off between shifts.

I don't think the engine deal between Daimler and Infiniti is for anything outside of four-cylinder mills, but I might be wrong on that one.

But if the Q50 Eau Rouge is a limited production model, with price not announced, why is it so absurd to think it'll get a version of the VR38?

Hell, they shoved a VR38 into a Juke - http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/nissan-juke-r-first-drive-review

Yes, but that was a limited run and only by Nissan UK.  They actually bought a GT-R and a Juke and merged the two together.  Not quite the same as a factory assembly.

Lol.  That would be sweet.

I know guys that have taken naturally aspirated 300ZXs and have swapped in the VH45DE out of the older Q45s and twin turboed them.  Just sick...  But that swap was a heck of a lot of work.

Yeah, and made it $111K CAD.  :S

If anything the sound in the video reminds me of blown 350Z / 370Z cars with the mother of all waste-gates.

Sounds identical to an HKS SSQV blow off valve....

Yup.  Very similar.  I had SSQVs on my car but they couldn't vent nearly as much as the stock recirculating valves.  Might have to try Tials next.

Same here.  I ran an SSQV, then  TurboSmart, then a Synapse.  The vid below is the TurboSmart..it was pretty mellow.  Synapse was the best.  Some people prefer it over the Tial.
