The return of the X-Runner to this market is just bizarre.

Agreed, I never understood the attraction to "Sport" trucks  :P

I was referring more to the fact that it used to be sold here, then they stopped selling it here a few years ago, then they discontinued it in the U.S. last year, and now they're bringing it back but only to Canada. WTF? Did they have a bunch of parts laying around or something?

Why would Toyota bring it to Canada when they axed it in the US?  There can't be that big of a market for 2-door, RWD (or is it 4WD) lowered sport trucks in Canada...

Perhaps this is a marketing gimmick, to distract from the otherwise staleness of the Tacoma line?

Though I agree with Mark, any time a 6MT vehicle is offered, enthusiasts should rejoice! :D

The X-Runner is a little more kid friendly than the Scion FRS.

Hmmmmm....

Not if your kid is in a car seat.

Not if it's a rear facing car seat. We did that once in a rental Tacoma access cab, the passenger seat had to be moved all the way to the front. Was not comfy for the wife lol.

With front facing seats and booster seats, not a problem.

Well, now you can't afford NOT to buy one!

No need for 4WD in your neck of the woods anyway, this thing was made for you!

To those who lambast lower trucks, I'd have this in a heartbeat. Makes it MUCH easier to load a 400+lb motorcycle into the bed on your own.

I like the idea of a low bed, and I guess lowering the truck needs to happen to get a lower bed.  But with 2 kids, an access cab won't do.  If it was sometimes fine, like a rental, but not to own.  Especially since these Tacomas last forever...

Well if has a 400+ horse motor like the SVT Lightning or the Dodge SRT-10 at least it would be quick....this thing is slow, too low, 2wd, extended cab and expensive....I guess I dont get "sport trucks" either.
Lighten up Francis.....

The big fender bulges on the Tacoma work pretty well on the 4x4 versions, but make the 2wd wheels look pretty dinky.

It's a pretty stale product though, no matter how you cut it.

I would definitely get 9"+ wide wheels for the rear with the X-Runner.

Lol haters gonna hate. Vancouver = low ride 365 days a year. 366 days on leap years.

SaskSpecV, wow I thought this forum was enabler-free. lol. My financially sensible side says no. The low rider might work great in Vancouver but our gas is 130.9 a litre right now.

What does gas price have to do with low rider?

A kid in me likes this truck but as an adult I wouldn't drop the cash on a decade old design with an antique engine (why can't they use the 4Runner's 270hp plant?) AND a hood scoop. Better trucks in this segment are just around the corner.
