I think it is just oppose, people like the platform and would like to see more done with it

Just like a 3 series, you have a wagon , coupe , 4 door off the same platform

Also with all the different websites out there, they have to do something different to catch the readers attention
So they make up rumours

It needs more power from an engine that actually makes torque...

We already have an in-house owner. Wy don't we ask Norman if he's bored of his "wife's" FRS?

He's an enthusiast, right?

Otherwise he's a dedicated poseur with all the go faster bits ad big brake kits! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

(Norm hope you know I'm joking about the poseur thing , right?)

Softer springs... Where's that get out/GTFO smiley?

I'm trying to achieve FRS like stiffness in my 3. I love it.

The FR-S is such a good sports car. But, for everyday use, damn it's hard on the behind.

even if the FR-S/BR-Z are no longer offered in their current form (which won't likely happen) but spawn new vehicles based on the same chassis, it would be a great success for Toyobaru.  Remember that not every car is intended on making money (or at least it's not the primary consideration).  Take the Lexus LFA - it never made back in sales the amount it cost to develop - but now you see the tech leech down to other Toyota/Lexus models.  The new Toyota FT-1 concept has cues from the LFA, and the new RC's V8 will borrow tech from the LFA's V10.

I think the entire platform was a huge success, and a cheap convertible, or an extended hybrid sedan would be great possibilities.

Subaru will gain less directly from the partnership, but will have learned a bit and definitely got some great marketing/exposure from making the twins.

I haven't driven either, so I can't comment on how good/not good it is - but I don't see it as practical for many folks north of the border.  Variants could do far better.  I'd love to see a BR-Z CUV (kinda like the XV, but better and more powerful).

Almost. It can't sit 4 adults comfortably.
Has anyone compared the ride to an RX-8? I'm curious because I had no problems with distance travel in the RX-8.

Theres nothing wrong with the car, might be a lot wrong with the customers. Like people had no idea what they were getting into or didnt test drive the vehicle enough. I have yet to drive one, but absolutely fantastic reviews from anyone whos ever driven it sounds like this is an amazing car......That desperately needs an STi/TRD model with about another 75-100HP.
Lighten up Francis.....

Based on normancw's comments above, the answer is a resounding 'No'. Sounds like the enthusiasts are very happy with the car and the solidifying ownership culture, after-market, etc. I do wonder though how non-enthusiast buyers feel about the car (must have been some?), and, even more, has the whole business model worked out for Toyota and Subaru – I have no idea, but I wonder.

I'd take these surfacing speculative renderings as a good sign, it shows people care enough to create them, circulate them and then talk about them.

One thing that surprises me is that I'd have guessed Toyota and Subaru would have tried to extract a little more 'sporting equity' for their brands from these cars through advertising. The only thing I can observe that makes me wonder about ongoing commitment to the segment is the apparent  absence of promotion...on the other hand, maybe I'm just not seeing it myself.

Would the FRS be boring with a 2l turbo?

FFS.... why soften up an enthusiast car. IMO it does need 50 more HP and proper tires out of the box.

I own a 155 HP car that weighs 2,900 lb, I don't find it boring at all. I love slinging it into corners. The FRS and BRZ has an even bigger slingable factor, as with the MX-5. I wouldn't want to see these three cars go to waste in a pursuit for more power when there are some good alternatives available, Mustang, Genesis Coupe, etc.

What Toyota needs to do is build another sports car.

Exactly what I was thinking. 250 HP minimum with a turbocharger for lots of low end power, powering the rear wheels with a rear bias AWD option.

My favourite Celicas, the 1st gen:

6th gen GT-Four, 250 HP 4WD, never sold in Canada but I know a few owners who brought them in from Japan:

And of course, Celica Supra:

The 5th gen GT-Four/Alltrac was pretty decent as well, as was the lightweight 4th gen that was a great handler.

7th gen is nice, but I don't see myself owning one anytime soon.

The FRS/BRZ is  an affordable summertime car for non lottery winners.

Assuming that it features the same reliability as most Subaru/Toyota vehicles, what's not to like?
