The above picture doesn't have enough room for the huge GMC grill.  GMC needs something smaller than the Terrain.  I know Chevy already has the Trax.  But something with a V6 option still.  2.4L as a base engine, and 3.6L as the option.  So it wouldn't ride on the Chevy Trax platform.

or a Jeep Wrangler competitor, but that's a small market...

Wrangler competitor still makes some sense. I could also see them reviving an Avalanche type vehicle under the GMC brand exclusively.

although they could also take over the Chevrolet Captiva slot at the next refresh and discontinue that as a Chev model.

The Captiva is a smart play by GM though. Use the Vue, sell it to fleets, and don't depreciate your consumer oriented product at resale. I get the feeling they will stay on this path with a new Captiva, if it ever happens.
