Heated seats aren't standard on an RX? What the hell?

Not sure if arrogance or just stupidity.
You can't just have your characters announce how they feel.
That makes me feel angry!

That is interesting. Car model segments used to be nicely delineated by standard and available features, but not any more. We hear so much about Mercedes fake leather seats and compact Kia's having more standard features than a Lexus, etc. Wonder what it all means? For sure standard features are no longer tied to vehicle price segment.

If GLK and Q5 have them standard then i dont know why the RX cannot.
GLK will be atleast 4-5K cheaper than the RX at the same trm level assuing 48 months financing from manufacturer. Q5 will be slightly lesser cost than the RX but offers much more standard features.
All these are built in developed countries that pay high wages.

In fact if you compare RX and Q5 on the lexus site you will much prefer the Q5 :-)

OK so continuing on the same lines... heated seats are not standard on the made in Canda RX330 which costs more than $52K tax in... I know i can pay $500 and get after market or 4K with a package and get warranty.. but what a shame. this one costs 52K, its not a yaris ...Dont know what happened to  cars built for Canadaian conditions as a justification for higher price..

And i am not on a toyota or lexus bashing spree... In fact most of the times i build and price vehicles that i will probably buy in the future..
Rx-350 is also sold in the southern US were they may not want to pay for heated seats, buy a package and get heated / vent leather seats

Agree but isnt the Canadian version more expensive because they have invested the extra money for extra equipment needed to handle canadian weather... some can argue this is a luxury but seeing this year's winter and this being offered as standard in all its competitors who also sell down south and also standard in several vehicles at a much lower price point this is surprising

Most U.S. BMWs have optional heated seats where Canadian models have them standard.

Have been on Car Cost Canada pricing out a 2014 Toyota Highlander.

There are no factory or dealer incentives on this brand new model, so I'm hoping CCC's advice about taking the wholesale invoice price and applying a 3% mark-up will work.

Am not going to waste time going to dealerships, but will email 4 or 5 dealerships in a couple of weeks with an offer to buy based on above, and let's see who responds.

How was the test drive?  Since your making offers, I assume you have decided on this model....

The offers (in the next couple of weeks) are based on a planned test drive next week, which is when according to my local dealer, the HL's should be available for test drives. By all accounts, the online auto reviews have all said that handling and driving dynamics have been improved compared to previous generations, including my 2004 HL which was a lethargic affair behind the wheel.

was chatting last week with my dealership (Toyota) and asking about changing to the Tacoma.
I wanted to see what kind of offer they'd go with.   I've dealt with this sales manager before (good guy)

Off the bat he said he'll give me the best price without any messing around,
however, since there's no new model coming and no factory incentives, plus good sales (no competition) -- the deals aren't that great.
basically is simply the dealer mark up that they can play with.

I've heard now from two various brand dealerships that the prices on "build your own" aren't quite always right...

one sales guy actually said they won't go as low as the website (in price)

They like to make things easy for you.

A 1.8T Golf (loaded) cost as much as my loaded GTI (2009) did.  Really want to see the wagon version and pricing.

With only 4-5K difference between a loaded 5 door golf and a 5 door GTI and the BGTI gets a DSG not a slushbox I can see no reason to get the Golf...but I'd want to see the wagon as well.

Yeah, I was somewhat surprised by the price of the loaded Golfs - OTOH, VW seems to have made a bunch of the features standard that were previously optional.  Seems like a decent deal - if you actually wanted those features.

I'm kinda surprised VW is offering a base 3-door GTI, but not a base 5-door GTI.  Price difference between them  - about 4.5K - is pretty substantial (obviously a lot more kit on the 5-door with standard autobahn package though).  As for the relatively low price difference between the regular Golf and the GTI, I think the 1.8T might account for that.  It's still a stretch from base golf to GTI, but maybe not as much as it was before.

Where are you finding the list of standard features?
