After watching Motorweek last night, old episodes on PVR.  The GLK 250 is pretty appealing, not that far out of my reach, when I am working, especially a CPO model, and they usually have decent rates.. Rear seat room not as bad as I thought, comparable to other smaller CUVs, more room than in compacts (about 32 inches avg), and less than midsize avg 38 inches, it has 35.5 inches, same as Golf wagon, which is fine by me, and our kids...

I like how there are lots of packages to choose from, if you want just HID, then just pick it.  I don't care, so I don't need it.  Don't care about 20" AMG wheels, don't care about panoramic sunroof, or those other nannies, lane deparature, etc.  So nothing really needed, nice to have would be sound pkg, and having to pay $800 for a colour other than black or white!  How stupid.  Also liked how you could pick several different interior colours, and trim, like aluminum or wood at no extra cost.  So base model GLK 250 was around $45,350

MB Winnipeg had a base model w/no options they used as a shuttle/loaner. I thought it was very nice and not at all obvious that is was a base model.

The GLK is very appealing... i just dont trust the long term reliability of a MB diesel... so looking at Honda/Toyota hybrids.. my commute is approx 110Kms daily two way 60% hwy and 40% city..
BMW came off payments in december and the itch has started..

Really?  Mercedes makes some of the best diesels.... As long as your keep with the regular maintenance, I don't see a problem.  Is there a certain one that has caused you concern?  Can't find anything on threads that mention diesel engines problems....

Without driving either the GLK or the V60 I think I'd have a hard time picking between the two. I've read the GLK drives almost car like and I think would have similar space to the V60. Tough choice.  I imagine there should be some CPO GLK's on the market by now.

^^ There are some  CPO GLKs indeed all with the gas V6 as yet.  And of course mostly black or white.   I hate this black or white are the only paints included in the base price business.   As someone who tries to avoid carwashes and lives in a hard water area I will not buy a black car nowadays.

Generally speaking, MB diesel engines are robust.  They've made some duds in the past, but for the most part, they're strong and long lived.  I hear good things about the newer ones.

MB seems to still have issues with electronics, sensors, etc, but looks to be getting better.

That said, if I was shopping for a long term keeper in the luxury segment, I'd play it "safe" and go for the new 450hp Lexus coupe...   ;D

NO.  "Dealer installed" via 3 party.

OK if the dealer installs it and is part of warranty then its not a big deal.. but still they stopped offering it..

I am very sure it was offered as an option (accessory) in the base model for both the cars..

OK so continuing on the same lines... heated seats are not standard on the made in Canda RX330 which costs more than $52K tax in... I know i can pay $500 and get after market or 4K with a package and get warranty.. but what a shame. this one costs 52K, its not a yaris ...Dont know what happened to  cars built for Canadaian conditions as a justification for higher price..

And i am not on a toyota or lexus bashing spree... In fact most of the times i build and price vehicles that i will probably buy in the future..
