2015 BMW 228i Coupé.M Sport Line.

Province   Ontario
MSRP   $ 36,000
Options   $ 7,195
Freight & PDI   $ 2,095
Retail Administration Fee (up to)   $ 595
Air Conditioning Tax   $ 100
Tire Tax   $ 23
Motor Vehicle Industry Council Fee   $ 5
Total Selling Price   $ 46,013

Seven grand in options?  You're doin' it wrong.  Get a near-stripped model 228i and you've still got everything that's important to enjoy that car and then it's a killer deal.

I tired to not click often but boy do these things add up fast.

$2,000  M Sport Line
$   895  Paint
$1,500  Coral Red Dakota Leather
$1,500  M Track Package  (I think that is forced with the M Sport)
$1,600  Auto Trans

:(

Well, I can forgive the $1,600 for the auto if it's a necessity.  At least it's about as good as they get with that excellent 8 spd.

What does the M- sport line do?  Is it just cosmetic?  If so, it'd be an easy scratch from my list.  Base car already looks quite good.  Coral Red looks great too, but not worth $1,500 to me.  And nearly a grand for paint?  No.  Freakin'.  Way. unless it's the kind that heals itself of nicks and scratches and keeps itself clean.  A jet black or standard white would be just fine for me.  Keeping that car simple is what makes it so great.  $36k ain't cheap for a car, but the driving experience of the 228i is such that it feels like a bargain for that money.

M Sport is mostly cosmetic but also includes sport suspension.

And I'd gladly pay $900 for a color that isn't boring white or black. Too bad you can't get orange with M Sport line though.

Almost happened but the Mrs gets a work vehicle. So still only one car for us.

Well, I can forgive the $1,600 for the auto if it's a necessity.  At least it's about as good as they get with that excellent 8 spd.

While I like to tell people they are wrong I really can't here. I'm sure IF I was buying today a lot of those extra would not get ticked by me, its just nice to play right now. Keeing the 228i under $40K makes is a great choice, going higher and it would be the Golf R for me no questions.

* My opinion only without driving either car.

Nope, especially if you spend the discount on a quality tuner to get it to 250 hp  :)

Wait why would you pay HST on the whole amount?

I've wondered that too, but I've read that some rebates are different than others (in terms of taxes).  Some of the cash rebates only apply after the original sales price has been "finalized" - so if the negotiated cost + PDI + tax = 31000, and there was a 1000 rebate, you'd pay 30,000.  But other rebates apply BEFORE tax has been applied - effectively saving you the tax as well.  I can't remember what the reasoning was, as to why some rebates were pre-tax and some were post-tax.  Can any of you sales people provide further clarification?

Infiniti.ca for the QX50. Base model, but tried to build it with Sangria Red metallic and the price went from $36,945 to $49,930. Huh? For some reason it adds every "package" when you want a dark red metallic. Or any colour other than boring (aka grey/black/white). Is that a website glitch, adding ~$13K worth of "packages" ? Or is that how it really is?

Volvo's Canadian site is an absolute disaster.

The XC90's Build and Price has been on the US site for two months now.  Canada?  Nothing.

To add insult to injury, the V60 Cross Country is listed in their current promotions but isn't even in the Build & Price:  http://www.volvocars.com/en-CA/sales-service/sales/offers-and-promotions/featured-offer/Pages/default.aspx

Compare our site to the US one and it's like first world versus third world website design.  http://www.volvocars.com/us/

Been like this for at least the last 2 years. I've written Volvo about things and they keep saying....soon. Really sad.
