New Rules for December 18...
« on: December 19, 2013, 12:35:32 pm »
1. No matter what, every tire topic shall be a hotly debated thread that will carry on for page after page.  Even repeated "X-Ice vs Blizzak" threads can be created and debated endlessly.  This is a CTC tradition and please carry on.

2. If you dislike a car that competes in the segment of the car you own, you are duly bound to slag on that model in every thread, regardless of the actual topic.  This will lead to "I hate the Camry" posts in debates about abortion laws, but that's fine.  "I wish the Camry would have had an abortion" or perhaps something more creative will suffice in the example given.

3. If you're in a discussion and someone admits that they had incorrect information you are also duly bound to now make every post you make about that error, and you must do it in such a way that ignores the fact that they acknowledged the error.

4. Twin Turbo Bob and some others around here have some smokin' skills with a camera.  We know you're not going to take pics like that.  So it's fine that that in the Show and Shine that you took your pics with the very first digital camera ever produced (0.0000001MB) and we can look past the lack of composition or focus since you were obviously wrestling a Polar Bear while taking them.

5. If you're new to the forum, don't bother searching for info that's been covered a thousand times.  If you're new, don't hang around and introduce yourself and get to know people, just slag on everyone from your very first post.

Thank you for reading the rules.  Carry on.

If you are in a GM thread on any possible subject makes sure to point out their regal sucks and if it's about the car itself, do your due diligence to inform the audience that the company is mismanaged and has an ongoing coolant conspiracy.

I like #1, honestly.  This is what you do with pals...although usually over a beer.   :) You argue, slag, tease, annoy and just banter forever about the same thing..or different things.   And it keeps going.

Am looking forward to Detroit for some face to face banter!   ;D

I'll take rule #3, but I will have to wait for rrocket to acknowledge the error first.
Although not really an error at the time but speculation.

If the CX-5 scored marginal just like the the Corolla, not sure why the 3 will do better.

I wonder how many cars of the same model they subject to the test?  One of the primary negative things is the wheel coming into the driver's compartment or pushing things into there.  I have to wonder if this would happen every time or just once in awhile?  ONE test would certainly be too small of a sample size, wouldn't it?
Hi rrocket, would you like to have an internet wager?  :rofl2:

I'm just following the pattern here.
RAV4 - poor, CX-5 marginal - 1 magnitude better
Camry - poor, Mazda6 - good.
Corolla - marginal, (guessing that Mazda3 (one magnitude higher) - good
http://www.autos.ca/forum/index.php/topic,85166.msg924203.html#msg924203
From the story: The Mazda3 has not completed IIHS crash testing, but both its predecessor and the CX-5 crossover, with which it shares body structure, have both aced the test previously.
That simply isn't true.  The CX-5 received the exact same marginal rating as the Corolla in the small overlap crash.  Both scored an identical "Top Safety Pick", and both missed out on the "+" rating because of that marginal small overlap score.  And the previous generation Mazda3 was never tested on the small overlap crash...and was identically rated to the previous generation Toyota.
So much for fact checking and oversight by the story writer's editor.  This is sloppy journalism at best IMO.  At worst, it's biased journalism.  Neither are acceptable IMO, since this story is being passed off as fact.
http://www.autos.ca/forum/index.php/topic,85566.msg930288.html#msg930288

The Mazda3 aces the small overlap as well as the re-tested CX-5.  ;D
Both get GOOD ratings.

http://www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/vehicle/v/mazda/3-sedan
http://www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/vehicle/v/mazda/cx-5

CX-5 joins the Forrester and Outlander as the only 3 CUVs to get the IIHS TSP+
(wheres the Honda CRV?)

Still waiting for Toyota to get their act together on the Corolla and RAV4...
Camry is now acceptable

Did Mazda actually change anything from the 2013 to 2014 to improve the crash testing?  Same vehicle, no?

And I stand by what I said...the previous CX-5 did NOT ace the test.
And the previous Mazda 3 didn't do the overlap test and scored identically to the Corolla.

I guess thats what gets you into trouble when you put too many quotes together.

Maybe just respond to this one.
You didn't think the 3 would do better than the Corolla in the small overlap test.

If the CX-5 scored marginal just like the the Corolla, not sure why the 3 will do better.
