A few of things I'd like to see included in all long term test updates...

- How long it's been in the fleet
- Current mileage
- How it's holding up (any squeaks,rattles etc)
- Any warranty repairs or service required yet

I watched a MT video about choosing their SUV of the year. The Santa fe got cut in the first round because (among other things) their tester, while fine when new, had developed a bunch of squeaks and rattles by 2500 miles. Any sign of than here?

Are you installing winter tires or are you going to slide around this winter like most southern ontario drivers. My Sorento is a different vehicle with Michelin x-ice winter rubber.

The vehicle is running a set of winter Dunlops, if memory serves.

i've been taking a good look at this one. (on the website / on paper)
It's in my list of possibility because of towing capacity and options included in price.
The Luxury addition seems the best bang for the buck to me.

We don't need 7 seats but the debate is on at how useful that third row is anyways.
I'm sure many who don't need them will just keep them folded down.

It's a bigger SUV than I'd even like to consider but it looks good, is getting good reviews and the pricing and options puts in right with the other vehicles I'm looking at.

the mileage you mentioned, is that 10.7 just a pure highway run compared to the 15+? or did it include some other driving as well? just curious.

did you review this just because of the holidays? can't believe you refrained from any santa claus play on words...

seems like a pretty darn nice vehicle. feel that the lighter vehicle should be able to return some better fuel numbers, but we'll say it's just the weather... after all, tis the season.

Hmm, I don't recall reading anything about Dunlop winter tires on this Santa Fe.

This is a seriously nice vehicle with a superior tow rating (5,000LB plus) with the V6. Maybe a version without the third row but with a flap covered, lined well would be nice. For hidden storage. Thought of doing this with the Caravan. I don't know, the old Caravan still does more without complaint and takes up no more room. Heck HP is just as much also. Hmm why the high tow rating.

As far as I can tell tow ratings don't mean very much. If I understand correctly there is no universal standard and the ratings end up being whatever the manufacturer decides to put down.

If "being the person who ordered the vehicle and the tires" is "insider information", then yes.

There is the SAE Rating that Toyota complies with, rumour has it when Ford redesigns the F-150, then all 3 Detroit makers will comply with the same standard.

If the Veracruz was rated for 3500lbs, and this Santa Fe XL is rated for 5000lbs, it's not for the hell of it.  5000lbs is average for this category, the MDX, Highlander, GM triplets, Explorer, Pathfinder can all handle it...

Any sign of than here?I have a 2013 Santa Fe that has no squeaks after 15,000 miles..It looks and drives like new...Gets between 23 and 25 MPG around town and 31-33 MPG on the hiway...Heated wheel, seats front and rear, rear shades, panoramic sunroof..keyless start, 8 inch nav screen, leather...All for a tad over 30 grand..A great car..

Is the new Highlander out yet?  (third generation), as it wouldn't be exactly fair to compare to the older one.  That would be like comparing the Elantra, before the new Corolla came out...
