The missus has a commute, luckily short.  The commute in general is going to suck. Not for me personally.  ;D

My 10' commute between the coffee maker and home office was typical today as well.

Yeah....maybe an extra 5-10 minutes extra. Though if you went to the south west corner of the Henday I don't think you would be at work yet.
Lighten up Francis.....

My commute was 5 minutes in the summer.

It was 5 minutes when we have 5cm of snow last week.

It was 5 minutes this morning.

Damn, it's always 5 minutes.

My daily commute for work increase by 10 minutes each way, every year... How many years does it stay before my retirement?

This morning’s commute ended when I got out of bed, ran to the toilet, and puked.

Mine was like a whole minute more. The day after was a gong show though, it seems the road crews decided to clear the snow to nice barrier like medians, sometimes blocking left turn lanes completely unless you have a heavy duty truck with a 3" lift to go over them.

The German train workers unions went on a warning strike this morning from 5h-9h, so no long-distance and regional trains were running in the southern and western half of the country.

Needless to say, all the commuter traffic flooded onto the roads.  :banghead:

Drivers forget that transit is good for them until the system is down for whatever reason. Even if it's just 10% more traffic, I know in Vancouver the roads just can't handle that small increase in vehicles so people often report a 25% increase on average above their already horrendous average commute times.

Edmonton is not that bad, lots of excess road capacity aside from downtown and a couple of choke points like SW Anthony Henday. I do think the new train lines will be good though, the population is growing and there will be resistance to the longer commute distances. I started taking the LRT to work, something about me being tired of paying $60 a week for parking,

Parking in Edmonton is expensive, I read somewhere it's among the most expensive cities in Canada.

I've had some appointments in the downtown lately, and wow, is it hard to get around now. Construction seems to have blocked a lot of areas, and the lack of snow removal caused a lot of issues. Hopefully it's better now in terms of the snow problems.

Today I've bailed on my run (one of the only days I've missed since mid August) as the trails out here right now are completed coated in freezing rain. It's nuts. Hope the roads are in better shape for the missus' drive home later.

Hwy 30 was closed when I driving home from Campbellford today
I guess this was the problem

http://www.northumberlandtoday.com/2013/12/20/tanker-rolls

Todays commute was so bad that I went home and took the day off.  About 15 cm of fresh snow here and the first road I tried to take was closed.  Tried a different route and it was blocked by dimwits who couldn't get up a small hill.  Drove around for a bit "practicing" sliding the truck and went home.  Last work day before Christmas, not much happening there today anyhow.

Wow, a 5 year gap in posts!

I initially thought you said bailed as in wiped out, phew!

It's $450 reserved 24 hours and $350 random 6-6 at Stantec Tower, but the 102 St Parkade is $12 a day which isn't bad if I occasionally need to drive to work, but it's an expensive habit. I went out briefly to grab a snack and it wasn't slippery by any means, just disgusting with the rain.

Snow covered streets this morning.  One guy decided to create an extra lane (there were already two heading in the same direction) at a red light, and just after that, what looked to be a C63 pretty much drifted through a left turn when he got the green arrow...

401 through Eastern Ontario is a mess.  Multiple crashes,  eastbound closed at Shannonville.

Freezing rain is supposed to go all night, I have to be at work at  7AM,  it's gonna be fun.  :P

One the way home yesterday, a fellow ran into the back of the bus. Bus didn't care. Dude needs a new front end.

The bus driver just kept going.

a bus driver was going down 70 km/h road in my neighborhood at 43 km/h.

all my fellow commuters (except 2 in front of me right behind the bus) were playing last second lane changes.

fx.
