we're paranoid.  We've had bikes stolen off a hitch rack that had a thule cable lock.
The car was parked in front on the parking lot attendant and we only left for 30 minutes.
I figure the SOB made a call and someone came with a cargo van, cut all the locks and take the bikes.

That's why I like fork mount setups, although I'd really like to rig something up so we don't need to remove the front wheels.  I know at the end of the day, if someone wants the bikes they'll take them.

Two solutions:

1) Land Rover LR4 with the seats folded will swallow a mountain bike ( front forks comp and/or seat dropped) standing.

2)

I had to cut a lock recently because it had rusted so bad it would no longer unlock. Took less than a minute with an angle grinder.

5/8" thick cable lock, same problem, took me about 5 minutes with a woodsaw. Would've probably been faster if I had a hacksaw with a metal cutting blade.

Yup but with a big rock I can let myself into most vehicle in less than 5 seconds. Not only do you miss your bike but you have to replace the glass...

Another solution (which I use on my motorcycle) is an alarmed lock.

IMO, the problem is that it's super long in the tooth.

Does it really need it though??

In an effort to remain competitive, it does some major updating.  I prefer the simple, logical buttons.  But it does need some softer materials, upgrade on things like Navigation, using the camera from the Accord would be nice, pain in the butt that you need to get the top of line to get leather, and Bluetooth.  This is the last Honda vehicle that currently does this..,  To save some money, I would limit it to two trims, and have packages that the dealer can add...

Overall though, I really like this vehicle, looks better than the Avalanche.  I prefer the exterior look of the Ford Explorer Sport trac, but the interior and utility of the Ridgeline, with the Honda V6, and better ride.....It is a contender for a tow vehicle, we shall see.  Because by the time I need one, we should know more about the new one, and whether newer = better?

Does Subaru need to bring back the Baja as a competitor for this new Ridgeline?

looked into the packages a little more.

Honda really needs to update these to be more competitive.
If you want leather, you're require to get into the Special Edition or Touring Trims.

The Special Edition is listed at $39,590.00
You get no Sunroof, no Navigation and I don't see USB plug in?

Compare this to the Tacoma
TRD Sports Premium which gets leather is $38,465.00
That gets you Navigation and Toyota's media system.

That's what I was trying to point out to you before.  However, only the Ridgeline is structured like this, and they won't change that now.  So if I was really determined to get one, I would just get a used EX-L trim (pre 2012) or a Touring (2012 and newer)
