It's happening in the manufacturing sector here also.
H.J. Heinz Co. announced it will close its Leamington, Ont., processing plant in June 2014, after more than 100 years of operation costing 740 people their job and about 200 seasonal labourers out of work.
The Kellogg’s plant in London, Ont., will close by the end of 2014, after 90 years of operation resulting in the loss of more than 500 full-time jobs.
Both are located in South Western Ontario

That's what shopping at Walmart and running to the border has done to Canada. Look I saved ten cents on a box of Corn Flakes....I hear uncle Fred lost his job.

Shopping at Walmart has done that to the US as well.  The funny thing is, I've found Walmart is now actually more expensive on many items versus other stores.  For example, since I became a father this year, I've saved tons of money on formula, diapers, etc by not shopping at Walmart, but going to The Real Canadian Superstore.  Go figure?  Heck, even the Zerex G05 coolant for my dad's Benz is cheaper at Napa than Walmart (I know this because I recently had to change the thermostat on his car).

I personally avoid Walmart as far as possible.

Your examples are also part of the food processing sector which seems had for Canada to compete in.
