Let me make sure i have this right...

You cant fathom that what i have been telling you fine fellas all afternoon is that that car got to a million on somewhere in the vicinity of 2 cars worth of parts which really means that car is good for about 500,000. Which is not impressive, all it takes is 1 obsessive compulsive prick to keep throwing money at it to keep it going to a million.

A toaster could make a million slices of bread if the toaster repairman knew you were obsessive enough to pay him to keep it going like an idiot. But after the repairman gets his hands on it 100 times, is it still the same toaster just because its the same frame?

I think not.

Yeah, that right there is the gist of the issue.  We don't believe that to be true.

Didn't help that your opening post stated dealerships charge 2-3 times more than anywhere else.  Also not true.

Sure, it's a marketing piece.  Sure it wasn't kept on the road without any maintenance.  But what the hell, it's a cool story.

So you really believe it's cheaper to maintain 3 cars to 330,000 km's,  or even 2 cars to 500,000 than one car to 990,000 ?

You actually think this car had all the parts on it replaced at least once?? So maintaining a car you do not owe anything on costs more than having a car loan?? Also his insurance would be lower on an older car. I dont know why you are so determined to make us believe that he would have been better having a few newer cars than driving one to almost a million km. Sure, its a puff piece to give the dealer a soft kitten type of look, but its pretty amazing.
Lighten up Francis.....

dealerships charge insane amounts of money, double easily for parts vs other alternatives. i believe that there is a threshold where buying a new car is a much better option than throwing money at something you dont know is going to make it through the week without quitting. I think he is an absolute idiot for pouring his money into that car to get it to a million km.

I know what he paid for those parts, which he most certainly replaced. I really don't give a :censor: if you think it's true or not, you can keep living in your fantasy world where throwing parts at a pile of :censor: is better than starting fresh at the kind of KM's we're talking about.

If you think he got there without replacing that WHOLE car, then i feel sorry for you.

and on top of that, everyone that is fighting with me are assholes brought front and center by the fact that you all have more negative feedback than positive. So that makes me feel great knowing at least the people against me are a bunch of asshats

When a car is free and clear, there goes the car payment. By saving $200, $300, $400 a month on a car payment, I am sure you can pay half that on good maintenance and keep that car forever.

I personally believe dealers can provide better maintenance than independents. These technicians see the same car day in and day out. They will find signs of parts failing BEFORE they fail. The last thing we need is someone on the road waiting for parts to fail before replacing them.

i would also like to add that every time he pours money into that car it evaporates into depreciation. You think its smart to throw 500 here and a 1000 there at a car that is still only worth about 1000 - 2000 dollars?
It's just fine to do that on something 4 or 5 years old, but the second the part goes on the car at 1/2 - 3/4 of a million km, the money bursts into flames and evaporates as if it never existed because the car is still gonna be worth jack :censor:

This isn't kindergarten....Just lock out the one poster, there is nothing wrong with the thread. And technically, since he has already breached TOS he should already be banned.
