Evolution, indeed.

Pros:
-Looks smaller
-independent rear suspension - we had to wait this long for it?!
-2.3L would be a stellar choice of engine, especially if it produces near 300hp.
-outward visibility seems 'less' compromised (...)
-fancy head/tail lights remain a big positive in my books.

Cons:
-interior quality still looks like shyeet, but I'll reserve until I can feel the materials.
-outward visibility may still be compromised by a high beltline, tall hood, and sloping roofline (...)
-that trunk is going to be even more limited than in the current model.  I couldn't even fit 2 suitcases in the trunk when I rented Mustangs in Hawaii (best rental car ever for Hawaii, though - unless you're offroading).

Looks like they took the existing model and applied the "Fusion Template" to it. C'mon Ford you had a great opportunity here to really do something different with the styling - this looks like a car styled by a committee - not an enthusiast.

"Independent rear suspension also makes its debut on a Mustang for the first time."

Uhhh, no. Are you guys not aware of the '99-'04 Cobra?

I like the latest pics. I wanted the Mustang to depart from the retro look but keep some of the muscle car heritage. It a difficult balancing act but I think Ford has pulled it off. The new "world"  Mustang needed to keep some of the 'murica roots.

Interesting front end. Kind of Audi like. Liking the exterior but see the argument regarding visibility vs looks.
Also agree that the interior sucks and does not look like a progression but more like a regression, like a fancy 80's escort.
Overall positive with room to improve.

From the first pic, I'm not a fan of it at all as it looks awkward.....not sure how else to put it.  The second exterior pic doesn't look too bad though.  And from that single interior pic, it doesn't look very promising as I'm certainly not a fan of that steering wheel nor the 80s style gauge cluster.  I'll reserve final judgement until I see more pics, and more importantly in person, but so far it's nothing more than "meh" for me.

I'm interested to see it in person before I make a decision on its looks.  It looks smaller than the current Mustang.

Apparently it is identical in wheelbase and length but 1.5 inches lower and 1.5 inches wider than the current Mustang.

Quote
• The wheelbase is the same as the 2014 model (107.1 inches) and the overall length is nearly identical.

• The front track is the also the same as the 2014, but the rear track is 2 inches wider at 64.9 inches.

• The overall height of the new car is about 1.5 inches shorter and the overall width of the car is about 1.5 inches wider.

While I dont mind the exterior at all, have to see it in person for final judgement, that wheel is terrible.....why the hell do you need that many controls on the wheel. Cruise and radio...sure, why the keypad?? Do you really need to screw around with that many settings while driving?? Again and again, texting and driving is bad gets hammered into our skulls but then manufacturers basically give us a QWERTY keyboards on the steering wheel....come on.
Lighten up Francis.....

Agreed about the steering wheel, it looks a tad busy. I prefer the simple approach on the TTRS where I can change modes and move up and down with the rollers.

looks like a more evolved version of the last gen... pretty much what it should be, no? i'm not a lover of the mustangs looks unless we are going back to the 60's... so i'm not in the market for one anyways...

the wheel is too busy considering whats on it... so much stuff to do nothing special... chrysler group(and whoever else) has it right with the radio controls on the back of the wheel... hide that crap. with EVIC's, cruise (not to mention adaptive cruise), bluetooth, voice recognition, they have to find a way to make it cleaner.

i will say i prefer the cruise on the wheel to the japanese style on a separate stalk like the rs.

the rest of the interior reminds me of the challenger.... which i don't mean as a compliment.
i used to be addicted to soap, but i'm clean now

Dude, they were trying to design a new Mustang, not a new Probe.  :P

while i think that looks really sleek... it wouldn't suit the mustang nameplate and heritage...

at least to me. would be an a5 killer for looks though.

I like my cars in 2014 to look like they were designed in 2014....not some 60s/2000s mish-mash.

Maybe they should build it and call it a Probe, but make it RWD this time.  Compete with the FRS/BRZ.  Put in the Ecoboost 2.0L and call it a day.

Now THAT's a proper steering wheel!

Even the multitude of buttons aside, the one pictured in the new mustang screams CHEAP!  Easily just as bad as the one in the Camaro.
