They should really make it a fine and demerit points. It seems the mouthbreathers around here arent scared by the $300ish dollar fine. Scary how many close calls Ive had with idiot texters, Im actually more scared of them then I am of drunk drivers.
Agreed, drunk drivers are usually on the road late at night, when I'm in bed.. Texters however are on the road anytime of day. On my motorcycle, since I'm higher than cars and I have unobstructed view, I can see a lot of people texting while driving, that is scary, specially on a bike. There also seem to be much more rear end collision thee days during commuting hours. It used to be mainly on snowy days, heavy rain, etc, but now we see plenty of fender benders on bright sunny days! It's as dangerous as drunk driving, so the fines and points should be in line with DUI.
