I'm actually rather impressed by the carbon fibre-reinforced plastic.  It did seem to hold up rather well.  That pole test is evil, plain evil...but I think it goes to the lack of space between driver and the exterior of the door - it is a rather compact car.  The Scion iQ doesn't do much better, nor did the Smart.  It's something to work on - Subaru has to as well.

Whiplash protection is an easy fix.  Overall, I don't think this is all that negative.

Did you see that Honda on the TV news last night that literally was cut in two when it hit a pole...not on an expressway but on city streets.

I dont know, if I was looking at a vehicle to put my loved ones into, Id go for a 5 star, especially if the 3 star vehicle was in direct competition.
Lighten up Francis.....

^^^ This.  And also note that I didn't say it's a stupid test - it's just evil.  I think it's something the manufacturers should address, like the small overlap, and the moderate overlap before it.
