It was -7 degrees at my father in law's house last night. I got in the car, I touched the steering wheel, I immediately lost three of my fingers.
The car I was testing at the time, did not have a heated steering wheel. My gloves were nowhere to be found.
I was unhappy.
How do you survive with no heated steering wheel? This is Canada! It's blooming COLD!!!
I think that heated steering wheels should be ahead of back-up cameras on the "soon to be compulsory" list!

LOL. It's Canada and it's winter: my fingers are cold from November to March. You just learn to live with it, I guess.

I've never tried a car with a heated steering wheel, so I guess I don't know what I'm missing. My wife, however, has informed me that it's on her list as a requirement for her next vehicle.

Actually, I think heated steering wheels are a good idea. Heated bike grips have been around forever. I wondered what took the auto business so long to catch up.

Jacob: Sometime we'll find a way to take you winter testing. Up in Chibougamau, QC we do cold-soak and defroster testing in the middle of the night with the thermometers reading a balmy -40C. Before windchill, of course.

I think Autos.ca should Canadianize this guy, send him to Yellowknife when manufacturers do cold weather testing

Boy, we're a tough lot, aren't we? How did we ever survive the 'old days' when the only way to heat ANYTHING in a car during a Canadian winter was to set the damned thing on fire?

I think my brother's Kia Rio5 SX has a heated steering wheel, dirtyjeffer can confirm?

I can't comment on how well heated steering wheels would work but I did appreciate the butt warmers when it dipped down to a chilly +3C last night. Can't complain, it was +12 during the day and I had to go to full cool mode for the cabin, without A/C.

It's not like the heated wheel instantly heats up. But it is nice. Kind of like drinking a nice warm cup of cocoa it heats you all inside and makes you feel fuzzy warm.

But not really, since you have to hold the steering wheel a specific way etc.

Jacob is it your first year? Perhaps you'll get the Camp4 experience with Porsche that they do every year. It's usually pretty nippy in Tremblant mid feb.
