I'm spoiled for choices here. Current bottle is a bottle of French wine, AOP Languedoc. A good middle of the road wine typical of most southern French wines. Not too tannic, not as heavy as some of the southwest wines tempered by the méditerranée, yet flavourful to pair with steak frites and for the winter times.

The last little while there's been nothing of any great significance or that has not already been reviewed by myself or another member. However, I am happy to report a new bottle tried tonight with some grilled Peruvian Beef that was really nice. Certainly worth more than it's $21.95 price at the LCBO. Seven Falls Cellars Cabernet 2015 from Washington state. Rated a 94 at the LCBO. Loaded with fruit - a great Cab for drinking alone or with meals.

Henry was always willing to help with leftovers. Nights we ate in front of the TV he wasn't above walking across the arm of the couch onto the end table to help out (when you are only 10" tall you have to do whatever it takes).  If someone had to leave the room for something it was always "watch my dinner".  ;D

Trying out this one tonight with some filet mignon tonight, great flavor & aroma, fairly dry but still smooth.

We had received a bottle of Appassimento as a gift at Christmas.  We only opened it last night and what a pleasant surprise.  I recommend it highly.

Tried this with dinner on Saturday night, great wine! Pretty smooth, not too heavy, but still flavorful.

I go thru a lot of wine (a couple bottles a week), AOP Fronton this week. Not too tannic but still flavourful with typical caractéristiques of a southwest (France) wine. Given its slightly more inland location at the crossroads of 3 climates (oceanic, méditerranée and continental), it's got a more distinct flavour than the usual Bordeaux or Languedoc but fruiter than the latter.

A few weeks ago i was down in Niagara and stopped at one of my favorite wineries.  Vieni.
I bought a couple of bottles of this Briganti Red. I see LCBO had it at one point:

https://www.lcbo.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/en/lcbo/red-wine-14001/vieni-briganti-red-435792#.XZp_h-dKhBx

A very nice Baco Noir/Foch blend with a lovely peppery, smoky, dark cherry character.  Amazing for $13 a bottle.
Even better was being served by, and chatting with the very nice young lady that made it...

Weather looks good this week, so plan is to take a run in the MX-5 and go grab some more.

^^ So I did the Niagara winery run.  Hit Vieni for a few bottles, then went to a new one for me.

De Simone.  A new small little boutique winery, makes maybe 1,000 cases a year.
I tried all four of these.  Cab Franc, Cab Sauv, Merlot and the sparkler.  All were fantastic, and all grapes grown on site.  Plus, i think it's awesome that you can talk to the guy that owns the place, bottles the wine and sweeps the floor.

I'd say this is the best winery i've ever tried in Niagara.  Highly recommended if you are ever wondering "which Niagara winery should i hit?"
