OK, this thread needs an update - Brian, I'm talking to you!
I'm Back to an old stand-by - Robert Mondavi Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
Now, $5 off at the LCBO.
Railton

Funny I am halfwya through the same bottle.

It's a bit rich for my blood but I'll pick up a few extras at $5 off.

My current go-tos are the Montes Alpha Can Sauv and the Catena Malbec (the $20 not the $50 version).
Well done Grasshopper!

Do you realize that in about 30 (updated as requested) years, we'll have millions of old ladies running around with tattoos?

Made pasta with a tomato based meat sauce for dinner, so went with a valpolicella ripasso to accompany it.

Bought a pizza at the grocery store and heated it up in the trailer.

We’re in the States, and would normally buy wine from where we’re traveling, but it’s such a crap shoot to find a California wine that we like. Neither of us are fans of hugely oaked fruit bombs, which seems pretty standard for California. :P For that matter, I’m not crazy about Ripassos or Amarones, either, but my wife likes them.

We’ve had some Oregon Pinots that we liked, but those can be pricy. Anyway, my wife bought a nice Cotes du Rhône Villages: nothing exciting, but an enjoyable vin de table and went great with the grocery-store pizza. :P

Some my favourite red wines.

The Torres Tempranillo wine is no longer available, not sure why it shows $7.25 (clearance price?) but it was around $17 before.  I sure miss it.

Yeah, I just can’t drink wine out of crappy plastic cups - even while camping.  :P  The Riedel tumblers have been great for that. They come in a little cardboard box that is perfect for keeping them safe in the trailer cupboard while bouncing down the highway. I won’t give up my stemware at home, but these are great for the purpose.

I’ve liked all the Torres wines I’ve had. We used to buy the Sangre de Toro a lot, but seems the price has crept up to $15-17 recently. The Gran Coronas sometimes goes on sale for that price, so usually I wait for that sale.

For inexpensive wines, Campo Viejo Rioja can be had for $11-13 here and is a solid choice at the price.

I typically only drink Red wine, but this was given to me by a friend back over Christmas.  I just uncorked it today and holy heck am I ever blown away.  An amazing White wine, and from NS too.

They make some nice stuff. We were there quite often when #2 daughter was at Acadia. They have a really nice outdoor patio restaurant with a great view of the valley

^. I love the Valley and Luckett's is one of the nicer wineries location wise for sure.  I always call it Pete"s.  ;D

There's a great road trip destination for the Jag Graeme.  Fantastic place to just drive around and drink up the scenery, as well as the wine.

More cheap-but-good Riojas today. Paid $11.70 per bottle, plus 45 Airmiles.  :D

Noticed that they’ve changed the label since we last bought it. I guess it doesn’t matter, but I do much prefer the design of the old label.

Old label:

^^ That seems very reasonable. The usual MO here is to price stuff really high ($17.99 for that wine) but almost everything goes on “sale” eventually. Just a matter of waiting and stocking up when the price is reasonable.

It’s on sale here through the weekend, so if we like the 2015 as much as the older vintages, I’ll probably buy another half dozen.

LCBO= Purchasing power. ;)
I should say that the wine we had at the Infiniti show last night was outstanding. Also not available at the LCBO - not even a listing.

Alrighty Ted.. yes - i've been slipping lately   ;D
I haven't had anything really noteworthy lately, but i bought this one a while ago, going to open it tonight.

1000 Stories Zinfandel.   What caught my eye was the bourbon barrel aging.  Could be great, could suck.  We shall see.

This one clocks in at a whoppin' 15.5%.  So, if you see some babbling incoherent posts from me later tonight you'll know why.  :D

Just opened a bottle of that Vina Zaco Rioja I posted about earlier. Ugh - thin, sweet and fruity, not at all the full-bodied, earthy Tempranillo I remembered. Guess they changed more than the label.  :P
