Yup.  Definitely looks better than a normal Sentra.  The powertrain/drivetrain sounds promising.  But are they just catching up to what the competition has been offering (also depends on price) in the form of Mazdaspeed 3, Ford Focus ST, Golf GTI, except in a sedan package?

Wow, a Sentra that isn't yawn inducing. Been a while since they've had one of those.

Nissan would be wise to make the regular Sentra look like this and use that engine not in ~$30k NISMO guise.

Imagine $15k for a Sentra with the 1.8L CVT that looks like this...hell, I'd consider it.  Then imagine a $25k Sentra with 1.8T CVT, and I bet even some grandmas would go for it.  I see so many grannies in Buick Regal GS (Turbo) - I find it hilarious...but many old folk will actually spring for the more powerful engine, if priced right (and the base engine is hated enough).

These werent bad, decent power but the shifting was absolutely horrible:

Hopefully this one has a better transmission.

Wouldn't that be a Civic Si?

Nice interior, love the seats.

The SE-R has always been middle of the pack compared to the competition. No problems there. I love the exterior treatment.

Yep, the B13 and B15 Sentras were great vehicles for enthusiasts.  Not refined, and not the highest performers out there, but simple, reliable, and lots of fun to drive.  The Spec V definitely had an awkward M/T - but after I switched out the weirdly-shaped shift knob for a shorter round Maxima shift knob, it was much easier to find the right gate.  The clutch was good too - damn near impossible to stall that thing.

I'm not a huge fan of the new Sentra design - it's fine, but doesn't really appeal to me - but that powertrain sounds great.  I thought Nissan would stick the 1.6L turbo from the Juke in the Sentra, but this is even better!

Terrible bad bad Nissan for not coming out with this sooner, some will think the world of them if they make it, we all know they will sell very few.  Good comparison, XRS.  I would prefer to see the effort put towards a hot coupe with the Juke powerplant

Gotta love the B13 SE-R.  Heck, even the B14 Sentra/200SX SE-R was pretty cool.  Not too difficult to swap in the SR20DET turbo motor either (get one out of Bluebird).

240 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque and have the weight be around under 3000lbs it could be a pretty quick car. (regular sentra - 2830lbs).

I hope there are more nismo versions for some other cars in the line up( especially the maxima - there is hope)

I had a 2009 SE-R (non Spec V) and I found it a hoot to drive around town, the CVT delivered terrific linear acceleration, and was a sleeper at most traffic lights/police.  It wasn't a GTI or Si or MS3 level, but then again it was $5-10k cheaper so I kept my expectations in line.

Nissan (I heard) never brought in many SE-Rs to Canada - 500 or so a year.  Selling out wasn't an issue in the past, and this one is 50% more car than my 2009 was.

Pricing will be critical....
