5 seats + 2 seats in a pinch, if you really need it, stick your mother in law back there.

So far I like what I see and what I'm reading. My only concern is the CVT tranny, but Subaru has gone CVT too, so which one is better? Time will well. ::)

My concern is the 170hp and CVT engine with 7-people loaded on.

Big improvement in styling over the previous generation. 7 people? this is a joke. Four normal people and a nice place for the dog.

The previous gen Rav was available with a third row.  We thought "oh, cool, it would be nice to have them for kids if we needed."

Whoops. I'm a skinny limber guy that finds even the Tribeca third row not uncomfortable.  The RAV is just too small to have seats back there...

I can't believe the third row will be anything more than a waste of space. I wish all these so-called 7 passenger CUV's would make deleting the 3rd row a no charge option. Far better for most buyers to save the weight and gain some under-floor storage compartments. My 07 SRX had two fairly roomy compartments where the (optional) 3rd row would have been that came in handy on occasion.
Old Jag convertible...one itch I won't have to scratch again.

I agree, if someone needs a 7 seater from Nissan, get the Pathfinder or Quest.  I don't think Toyota sold too many Rav4 with 7 seats, if they did, this new generation would still have it.  And if Toyota didn't make it work in the Rav4, Nissan won't...

Leaves the Murano in an odd place as well.  The Rogue has the option of 7 seats, but the Murano doesn't?

My parents have a 2008 Rondo 7 Passenger.

Is the 6th/7th seat often used? No. But it makes more sense to have that which serves 98% of the use and to squeeze two people in the back when rarely needed(1%)... It also allows for bringing long/oddly sized items along with extra passengers (e.g. furniture)

I can see the use of having very occasional use seats.

Agreed.  The styling is nice.  We could fit 5 average sized adults in my wife's Rogue in reasonable comfort.

7 in this thing is a joke.  Being smaller than a Pathfinder, I'm not sure those 2 rear most seats will be comfortable even for kids.

I think I read somewhere that the third row is an option, or can be deleted. I would not want more than five seats next  time around.

Fuel economy ratings for the new Rogue have improved: 6.0/7.9/7.1 (hwy/city/combined L/100km) for front-wheel drive CVT models and 8.2/6.2/7.3 for all-wheel drive models.

Besides the obvious error in the latter number (reversed hwy/city),

HOW ARE WE STILL ALLOWING THESE BULLSH!T CLAIMS?!  In what world could an AWD Rogue get 6.2L/100km on a highway, even at 100km/h?!  My brother's gets ~8L/100km, and since this new one is just retuned, but same mechanical equipment, I have a very difficult time believing those numbers.  He consistently averages over 11L/100km in the City.

My brother hates his Rogue for the fuel economy, poor quality materials, and harsh ride.  If this new one is, in person, as promised, then Nissan has fixed all of his concerns.  Only time (and a test-drive) will tell.

Build sheet is up on the US site and the third row seating is an option. That's better.

I am pretty sure I read somewhere that this is the same transmission, just re-programmed for better fuel economy.  Maybe I'm wrong.  Either way, I'm not convinced the gains are going to be as huge as they say here.

Dont know how you can say poor materials when it's soft touch everywhere ::)  Comparing to the competition that has all hard plastics, but at least the CRV has done it nice.
