One last thing... We also made a stop in Stuttgart to visit the Porsche and Mercedes-Benz museums. Both are "must-see" if you're ever in the area.

This is the best content I've seen here in a while. Thread definitely delivers.

She's a keeper, dude... and I can't wait to see the GoPro footage!

I spent last weekend doing a 4-year anniversary thing with the gf... we've been talking loosely about tying the knot and I've been soft-launching the idea of a 'Ring honeymoon. Especially since, well, she'd be getting a "ring" of her own...

I'm a very, very lucky guy! I should add that the 'Ring was her first-ever experience on a track. She not only took photos, but also held the camera and filmed the last three laps when two of my Go Pro mounts failed. Makes for an interesting video - it's a touch shaky, but gives great perspective.

It's shaky, but with a Go Pro mount not working and no time to spare to get our laps in before the track closed, my wife ended up just holding the camera by the suction cup mount's arm. Here's a lap from her point-of-view: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Ym0GR5Qj9w

As you'll see, I take it pretty easy. You'll also see me short-shifting, as the engines of these rental cars report if you over-rev them and charge you 150 Euro per incident. I had forgotten to ask if hitting the rev-limiter counted (it didn't), so I often shifted well short of the 7,600 rpm redline.

I later learned that it was simply there to protect against incompetent downshifting. We were shown a video of someone going 6-2 at 180 kph in one of the Swifts. Painful.

Yeah overrev is for downshifts.  Lots of race car rentals do that, I've got a logger in my car as well.

Track does look more narrow in your video than others... interesting!

That was pretty awesome man!  It was hard for me to tell what some of the other cars were, but no mistaking that Alfa when it screamed by.  Was that a 911 Turbo Cabrio flying by at around the 8:35 mark?  I've seen lots of footage from the ring, but so cool to see some from a regular forum member!  Kudos to your wife for the steady hands also...and stomach..

Great post!  Hope you had a few steins afterward!

Actually, that car that flew by is one of the coolest we saw all day. He's one of the local "legends." That's an early Lotus Elise equipped with the F20C out of an S2000. It's running hot cams and Hondata engine management, so it puts down something like 300 horsepower at the rear wheels.

Absolutely amazing!  That is the honeymoon to beat all honeymoons!  I am absolutely envious, jealous and slack-jawed gob-smacked over your experience.  Thank you very much for posting.

Thanks!  Very cool view from the handheld Go Pro, especially going around the Carousel.  The Ring has been added to my bucket list!
