I have a sneaking suspicion that she originally bought an "S" trim model and when she was getting in and out, she was scraping the side panels unique to that trim.  They put her into a base (VERY base, with roll up windows) model, gave her butkus for her trade, and then added on every warranty/fee/etching/crap they could find.

I also am willing to bet that they made it sound like they were taking her existing car back and "giving" her a new one.  "Oh, we'll put you in this model that won't have that pesky paint problem."  But of course your existing car is used, so you might have to take a few less options on your new car.

The dealer got a spanky trade for low money, got a base model off the lot, and made a ton of dough.

probably a good guess.

in the end, 50/50... 50% her fault for doing it, 50% dealer trying to take advantage of the situation.

a sales department did what they get paid to do... she is the one who could have just left. you can't have people having 0 accountability.

I won't even bother.  Not worth my effort.  I remember the dealer etching fees thread and your replies to that one...

Kollie said she was never told the final price until she was asked to sign the papers. “So I kept signing, and … when I stopped signing, I read it through and said ‘This is $32,000!’ And he said, ‘Oh, but you get free this, free that, free the other. Everything is covered for seven years.’”

Kollie agreed to pay $32,348.37, including almost $2,000 in options and extra fees she says she didn’t ask for or understand, for an economy car she hadn’t yet seen.

So she was told the final price BEFORE she signed and THEN started to sign the papers. Also she read thought it AFTER she signed it? I wonder how many other things she has bought like this.

Does rrocket still thinks she still has no accountability for that?
50/50 is what tooscoops says and I agree.
Or can you get out of that for being incompetent?

i didn't mean for it to be a derogatory comment about her size... couldn't care less... but the issue was a section of paint was being worn off by how she entered the car. she blamed the door... i would be willing to be that the new car (the exact same car.. a 2013 corolla) has doors that open any differently. so she needs to either change her size or her physical ability in order to not need to slide across the paint.

I guess no less derogatory than me commenting on what shoes she was wearing.
