Anyone use PC based OBD2 scanners?
« on: November 07, 2013, 07:06:49 pm »
I've got a check engine light on my Ford and need to find the problem.  I haven't been impressed with the various handheld code readers I've seen but the PC software with cable version looks interesting.  Lots of companies selling them, anyone have one or tried one?  What did you think? What brand?

I do!!

I have OBDLinkSX.  http://www.scantool.net/obdlink-sx.html  Works extremely well.  Will also datalog.  Will also do the current emission test that we use in Ontario.

However, I have since switched to an ELM327 OBDII Bluetooth adapter and use TorquePro from my cell phone.  It works very, very well and does everything the OBDLinkSX does and much, much more.  http://topdroidhq.com/android-torque-pro-review

How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Cool. That's one of the ones I was looking at this morning.   Great price.  Did you buy the upgraded software or was what came with it useful enough?   Also did you buy it local or have to order it?

It comes with OBDWiz, which is quite good.

I ordered from E-bay.

I wonder if I could ship you my cable to try-before-you-buy?

Yeah if you have an android phone that's much easier to work with the adapter.  If you don't have an android phone just get one lol.

Heck you can get a cheapy for $50
