Yeah I just love being behind a vehicle towing something beyond it's capabilities on a twisty 2 lane. Some good advice there lol.

I can relate doing 20 km/h on the twisty parts of Hwy 1 through BC on my cross Canada ride, one hand supporting my chin, pouting in utter disappointment. Mostly because of semis but BC is camper season. Want wide open twisty roads? Go first thing in the morning.

My reply was more in response to the advice to ignore weight ratings etc and just tow. Irresponsible  advice when you are on the highway with others and have your family on board. But then again it's their choice. Cause an accident due to overloading and they would bankrupt you in the US. Fortunately here in Canada we assign a limit to damages. YMMV.

Back to auto advice. Double check that your transmission and rear differential oil is fresh and preferably synthetic. With a little prep and research you will be fine.

Did we have another travel trailer thread? I thought I saw one recently but couldn't find it.

I think we're buying an RV but we're still working on the deal. It's 4,600 lb dry and 7,500 gross so I think I'm stuck with my big blue gas guzzler. My Sequoia only has a tow rating of 6,500 lb so wonder if that's going to be an issue? I don't see us carrying 2,900 lb of stuff in the trailer and the water tanks will be empty. My brother bought a Prolite Profil 14 last year with a GVWR of 3,000 lb and the dealer almost didn't let him take it home with his Venza 4-cylinder with a tow rating of 2,500 lb, even though the trailer has a dry weight of 1,595 lb.

What trailer are you looking at?

As long as GVWR and GAWR is not exceeded, it痴 fine. Yea I値l do all that, might looking into a heavier duty rad as well. Until I get an upgrade tow vehicle, I値l tell any accompanying family that they値l have to drive there separately.

Nice!  I had my tent trailer for sale last fall but now I'm changing my mind.  Think I'll keep it.

I'm sure your engine radiator will be fine.  Maybe just check to see if there is an auxiliary transmission cooler installed, and if not, install one of those instead.

That's something similar in size to what I'd like to get, but 2 feet shorter (24'), and with a single slide to open up the interior.

Something a little like this:

Actually,

Here is a used one that is perfect, and pretty much exactly what I want.  Even down to the bunk beds and outdoor kitchen.

That exact model is on my short list.  Meets my needs.  Double bunks, U-shaped dinette, double axle wheels, decent amount of storage, TV in decent position.  Warranty above average, and build quality above average.

Ya, me too.  It's pretty much perfect.  It even has an outdoor kitchen, which is on my list of wants, because we do most of our cooking outside.

Us too.  The kitchen is part of an extra package I believe.  It's a want not a need for me.  Depends on the extra weight it adds, the price, etc.

^^Yeah, weight isn't really an issue for me anymore, at least in this class of trailer.  It's one reason I bought a half-ton, so I wouldn't have to nickel and dime myself to death when looking at trailer weights.  I'm willing to spend the extra money to buy a trailer with the outdoor kitchen, because it just looks like it would accompany our camping lifestyle very well, which is to spend most of our time outdoors.

Anyways, I'm planning on doing one more summer with our current trailer, then maybe looking for a new/used trailer in 2020.

Sounds about right for me too.  As I still need a tow vehicle / work truck.

My coworker has almost the same unit, a little bit of a different configuration with the sink but he and his family love it.

Question to you travel trailer aficionados...where do you store it when not in use?

Now that I have a dog, I'm taking a closer look at this set up for family vacations and such...just curious thx
I love it when a plan comes together.

Probably easier to just put the dog in a kennel or with some friends/family.

Also, would love to know the story behind that A3.
