Great review, thanks.  Maybe the value is there in terms of features, but in BC that car with taxes is $47k.  I don't know who pays near $50k for a Ford sedan, but I guess there must be those who do it.

If it's really that big, you can get into an Avalon for $37K (plus taxes).

I see no manumatic gate for the shifter (except for an S mode) nor any paddles on the steering wheel.  If not, Ford skimped on these features and shouldn't be given a pass on this most expensive and sportiest Fusion.   I know they are seldom used and gimmicky but this is a halo sedan for the brand aiming to be the best midsize car around.

Ford's Titanium packages are a puzzler for me (and must be a profit machine for them). Many of their products seem like pretty good value until Titanium level pricing where there seem to be much more compelling choices elsewhere.

Holy crap, $42K for a Fusion?!?!?!??! Uhhh no, just...no, bad Ford, go to your corner!!! You can easily get into a Taurus for that which has way more room than the Fusion, hell, for $40K it opens up a whole world of possibility.

I don't know if, like me, you noticed that the current gen Fusions doesn't seem to be selling all that well in QC. The previous car was a hit, especially after the 2010 updates. I only drove a pretty basic SE with the 1.6 EB, wasn't impressed, and the trunk lid was misaligned.

Most people will say the opposite - the Taurus doesn't really offer more room than the Fusion, hence the tepid sales up here.

Exactly!  When you move up into that price range there are a lot of more compelling choices.

Which loaded AWD choices exist at this price point, and what do they get for fuel economy?

My Outback 3.6R wasn't much cheaper and it didn't come with nearly the kit that this does.

yeah, it's really easy to start saying, "42 is crazy! ____ is only 35!"... but usually the price compared is the base price. this has over 6 and a half grand worth of options.

awd... fuel efficient... what would be considered quite a well appointed car... decent space. i think the price would be hard to beat. also, keep in mind that's msrp.

i was just doing a build and price to see what kind of incentives are on right now... it tells me it should have paddle shifters for minou... looks like it's just a 750 rebate right now. (side note jacob... option pricing adds up wrong... 6350 unless there is another 150 i'm missing somewhere [oh, and the paint has a price increase of 100 it looks like].. no biggie though!)

I gather most people do not know the prices of fully load cars today. At $43,000.00, not much you can buy with this type of equipment. I drove one and really liked it,  Yes I can get a BMW, Audi and MB for less, but not with the same equipment.

Age old dilemma..........high end, finely engineered and finished base model or mainstreamvehicle with so-so fit and finish but loaded up with lots of options. In short, it's a value judgement and everybody will come to their own conclusion.

Are you buying a car or an iPhone? How much equipment do you need? At 42k, Lexus ES would be my choice hands down.

Seriously overpriced, and Ford quality does not inspire confidence for me. Add to that their any-color-as-long-as-its-black interior and you hear the sound of one that drops off the list.

We don't agree on much but I'm with you on wishing manufacturers offered more interior colour choices.

The base ES doesn't have leather or heated seats let alone AWD or the entertainment stuff.

Not a big stretch to an AWD Q50.  Just crazy, man.  You don't take a Fusion over that unless you have a blue oval stamped on your forehead.
Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.
