Cool, and it should have enough power to be considered a real car.
Lighten up Francis.....

Interesting Ford is praising the both EcoBoost & MyFord Touch on the heels of consumer reports negative publication on both the EB & MFT by it's readers.  :surrend:

That's good, but not shocking.  We see tanks in the high 4's in the Corolla when driven on slower (90-100) roads at the speed limit.  I want to see some "3.xx" cars...

I think this is the best platform for the boosted 1.0L EcoBoost

Unfortunately it will likely be priced like a real car too.  You won't be getting this one for $12.5k.   And considering the Fiesta is more the 500 lbs more then the Mirage and with the extra power there is little chance it will get anywhere near the Mirages mileage on the road.

The ecoboost Fiesta to get is the ST.

Oh I know, the ST is the Fiesta to have......but, if this is cheap enough, why not?? Plus, its turbo, could have a cheap little sh!tbox that goes PSSSHHHHHH when you shift at high RPM.

IF is cheap enough then yes I agree.  It would be a hoot as a commuter.  Bet its 20k or more though.

I'd like to see Mitsubishi turbo it's little 3 cyl and still keep its weight below 2000lbs.  That would a real laugh.   Years ago I took an 84 Colt turbo while my 83 was in for service.  A turbo 1.6 and less then a ton. It was great!

I'm a big fan of little cars with lots of power.

Was going to say the same.  Not very awe inspiring for a 1.0L when 1-8-2.0+L engines nearly achieve that.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

No matter how good that engine is, this is a subcompact after all.  A small diesel or hybrid drivetrain would quickly put the 6.2 city number on the trailer and get into the 3's.

Both the 1.5L Ecoboost and 1.0L ecoboost mean big sales in China because of government policies.  It is hard for a normaly aspirated engine to meet the requirements of all world auto markets but the 1.5l & 1.0l EcoBoost engines can do that. (reliability is the question though)

Quote
The central government has been experimenting with encouraging people to purchase small-displacement and hybrid, plug-in, and electric cars since 2009. A gasoline-only car with an engine smaller than 1.6-liters in displacement falls under the "energy-saving" category and buyers benefit from a one-time 3000 Yuan subsidy (about $480 at current exchange rates), as well as significantly lower insurance and registration fees.

I've read a couple reviews so far that are better then  I expected. Reviewers tend to be harsh on entry level cars but it seems to be a good basic car.

It won't compete with the Fiesta turbo though due to the price difference.

In a bad way, unless you like Leaning Tower of Pisa body roll. There is not a single soft-touch plastic bit inside the Mirage and there are other vehicles on the market that get similar fuel economy in better packaging for not much extra.
