Winter prep checklist
« on: October 27, 2013, 09:48:09 am »
What do you guys and gals do to prepare your car(s) for winter? It's the first winter with my first vehicle so I want to make sure I'm not forgetting anything.

- Purchased and installed winter tires. Removed hubcaps.
- Brakes inspected. Replaced brake pads.
- Undercarriage sprayed at Krown Rust Control.
- Applied Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0 to paint, lights, plastic trim.
- Applied Aquapel to windshield.
- Changed engine oil and filter.
- Topped up washer fluid with -40'C fluid.
- Purchased OEM rubber floor mats from dealership for interior.
- Applied ScotchGard to interior carpet and fabric.
- Snowbrush with ice scraper in the trunk.

Anything else I'm missing?

I put on winter tires, put shovel and scraper in car, make sure there's a blanket in there, and check the wipers to make sure they are in good shape.

AquaPel or no, I would still verify all wipers and if necessary, change them for either winter or the hybrid style blades.

I have the rubber frameless style. They're either the RainX brand from Walmart or NAPA brand.

Yes they do. I've been running the same set of Trico Force blades on the Firebird going into my third winter now....great blades!

I think the OP is off to a good start, I find so many people do absolutely nothing to prep their car for winter until they find themselves stuck, in an accident, or with a damaged/rotted out vehicle.

I am running a little behind this year due to moving, but I have new winter's order for the firebird for next weekend, gave it a good coat of wax a couple weeks ago and will get all winter driven vehicles Krown'd...Hopefully before we get any snow.

I also usually lay down an extra set of floor mats; I usually have a set of carpeted mats with rubber floor mats (I like the MotoMaster ones) on top.
