I always chime in with the same comment - the chassis can handle more power and I'd certainly be wanting more. I wouldn't want too much, 300 would be just about perfect IMO.

Totally agree.

"Unique grey"?  Seems like an oxymoron.  That's the last colour I'd pick for this car.  The FRS wins in styling (subjective and very slightly), but the BRZ edges it in content (HIDs, leather/alcantara heated seats, NAV).  Hmmm.. tough choice!

Also, like everyone else says, just scrap Scion already and make this a Toyota like it should have been in the first place.

Good article, would love one of these if I had enough days when I could leave the house on my own.

Not sure I'd want a turbo on this, unless it was extremely well done with no lag. For a car that's all about feel, a turbo can be a pain in the @ss if boost comes on too quickly, it upsets the balance and makes carving a nice curve more difficult. My old WRX (2002) was interesting when you were trying to fool around with it; lots of low speed understeer and you couldn't use the go pedal to counter it, you'd just lunge forward wildly once the boost came on, still pushing away at the front end. If you wanted to enjoy the power in a curve you'd have to do some sort of Scandinavian flick to get it balanced right, not always practical. With practice it got more fun but I'd have rather had a smooth power curve to enjoy the handling.

Doesn't really sound worth it.

Thats the most useless supercharger Ive ever seen.....somethings very wrong.

Even beyond the performance numbers...the cost and effort required to get that power increase on a naturally aspirated engine versus the ninor cost/effort of say an APR re flash on a VW 2.0T just seems out of place. FRS/BRZ are 30 K cars. Spending 500$ and 30 minutes for an extra 20-40 hp that's cool. $1000s of $ and many hours for that same increase on a BRZ makes little sense

Thats what I mean, a supercharger that costs many a thousand of dollars to buy and many hours to install and makes less than 50 horses....why bother??

FWD makes any sort of modification pointless IMO.  FWD= FTL.

I'm guessing it's tuned for California craptastic 91 octane.

The guys in Ohio have installed a couple of the HKS superchargers and they are making more power than what Edmunds did.

Is the unhappy rear-end suspension only in the FR-S? From my recollection, the FR-S had stiffer rear than the BR-Z.  I wonder how they would compare.

...and swapping out the craptastic tires for better ones would ruin the fun, and probably the entire point of this vehicle.  Just sayin'.

Great fun car to have, but doesn't make any sense as a daily driver - especially in Canada...pot-holed roads + stiff-ass suspension + craptastic back pain = sad Noto.

Even in pot-hole laced Edmonton, this is a wonderful car.  The chassis is amazing.  Even at stock HP, it's a great driver.

If you can live with one in Edmonton, Im 100% sure that in the GTA you would be more than fine.

Easily.  Dad was 99% about to pull the trigger, but decided to stay with the topless fun of the S2K instead.

If you could bring up the torque to 200 then you might have something.  You've got ring this motor out all the time to get some reasonable passing power out of it.  We brought in one of these units in with the yellow/orange colour and about 20 different ppl drove the sh*t out of it.  No one thought it worth owing. Then sold it to a university student from Toronto vis the TRADER  ;D.  His mom came up and paid cash.  These are the users of these units primarily.  Rich kids interested in the appearance and the bling factor.  Should be reliable, but used units will have the crap rung out due to the lack of power so be warned.

As for the drifting ..... well install Prius tires on any performance coupe and it will be all over the road.  OPP in my region see you drift and they'll scr*w you royally.  Supercharger and fat tires would up the game considerably.

I agree, power is adequate.  And I know it's the nature of the engine, but I wish you didn't have to rev it so high all the time to get peak hp.  Reminds me a bit of the previous Celica GTS, all the rowing you had to do, to get some speed.  Sure it's fun, but can get a little tiresome.  Just a bit more torque would be nice..

Hey, are you hiring?  ;D

Nice car for sure!  I agree that 250 - 300 HP would be idea, but not a deal breaker.  :skid:

easy oversteerability?! how did they get past the legal department??? if toyota is getting sued for "self accelerating cars" even though we all know are caused by panic drivers stepping on the gas instead of brakes....

I wonder if there will be law suits once these cars crashing into trees and drivers blaming the electric throttle and stability system and poor rear traction...
