What is troubling though is the suspension noise over bumpy roads, the suspension clunks despite absorbing the rough roads and inside the passenger compartment it just does not sound right.

Maybe its not just my TL, then. Perhaps something about the suspension parts/design that Honda uses is just prone to noise?

Having had the right rear shock replaced twice and the entire suspension "re-set", whatever that means....its a lot better but still noisier than any other car I have driven.

My current idea is to install mass loaded vinyl onto the rear seats and maybe trunk area to just try and block it out. :-\
You can't just have your characters announce how they feel.
That makes me feel angry!

Okay, so which would you rather buy, this Acura RLX or a Hyundai Genesis?
a Genesis in a heartbeat...but the more appropriate comparison (cost wise) would be the Equus...i'm not sure the Equus is really worth that much more than the Genesis (i find the Genesis sweet spot to be the V6 with Premium package for $45k), unless you simply want the experience...the problem is, in this price bracket, Hyundai doesn't have the "name" that most people want...they want to say "I drive a Mercedes/BMW/Audi, not Hyundai".
When you've lost the argument, admit defeat and hit the smite button.

Genesis, it looks better, power goes to the correct wheels and I plain old just dislike this RLX thing....

A few pre-owned Acura RLX's have come across my car buying radar of late.

These cars fit my used car buying criteria fairly well.  There is much positive to be said about the RLX's and yet they have not developed much of a market following.  And so they can be a really great value on the resale market.

Too bad about the absence of AWD in the early model year.

I know. I for some reason quite like the AWD one. Would be a cool under the radar car and a great value......

Perhaps because your garage is stuffed with 100% Acura???

(ignoring the GM pickup parked at your office)

I much prefer my TL to the new TLX.

Most definitely with you there.

Anyone have any sense as to what kind of incentives Acura has offered on the RLX?

The current offers link on the Acura webpage currently shows nothing for the RLX.  But maybe this is such a low volume unit that one has to visit a dealership.

Starting at $68k?  Yikes - there would have to be some severely massive discounts to sway me here versus any number of alternatives.  $8k on the hood of each Genesis right now, for example, and starting $20k lower for a very well equipped model.

But yes. Admittedly, I think the only current Acura product I would actually *think* of buying *for myself* is the RLX - and that's only with the running assumption of steep discounts. I much prefer my TL to the new TLX.

I still really love my TL, though.

Yeah I just wouldn't find the RLX all that compelling a purchase in the larger, less sporty, luxo sedan world.  The TL would align more with the character of sedan I'd want.

For example, I think I'd definitely rather have a Genesis over the RLX....especially a V8 one.... mmmmm

EDIT:

This.   And that $20k could be used to easily bump up to V8 glory.   If that's your thing.  :skid:

Many journalists say they prefer the Genesis V6 to the V8.  They say that the added weight over the nose affects handling.

I stand corrected.  Using the build and price function, I discovered that there is currently a modest $2,000 in price adjustments for the current RLX.

Makes me wonder whether the 2014's represent a tremendous bargain on the used market.

I went through Autotrader at lunch and found some pretty spectacular deals on AWD RLXs.

I LOVE this RLX...but specifically the hybrid.  I read a few technical stories on that car..and it's right up there with the most technologically advanced in the world.  Particularly the powertrain.  Wow....what a car!
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

This car is a massive sales failure for Acura.

Is it?  They sold nearly 50K last year and have sold nearly 20K YTD.  I'd hardly call that "failure" numbers for the top shelf car in their lineup.

No idea where you are getting your information from.  Using Good Car, Bad Car as a source, as opposed to the fact I have NEVER seen one in the wild, Acura sold 182 RLX's in Canada and 2,195 in the US in 2015.  They have sold 62 RLX's thus far in 2016 and 727 in the USA.  For comparison, the Lexus GS sold 23,117 in the USA in 2015.

So yes, I would consider it a sales failure.  Wouldn't you?

I didn't go back and look...but I have a feeling I may have been looking at TLX numbers?

But yea..based on those numbers, it's doing poorly.  Maybe people think "why should I buy the RLX when the TLX is so good?"  Doesn't seem like an incredible amount of product separation between the two, does it?  Or is it marketing?

No idea.

To consider it sales failure , you would have to look at how long they sit on the lot and what is the Sales target

How many have you seen in the wild.  I literally haven't seen any.  I wonder if we could also base it a failure on the discounts available?  Or what the average price people are paying?  But realistically, given the car has been on sale for 3 model years, it has sold horribly (this includes the FWD version that was available at the get go).

I haven't seen a Golf R yet.... ;)

when you are in the bottom ten , you are a sales failure
