What is the mileage ? 299,999 ? Seems with  these cars in particular the odometer will only go to 299,999 for some reason. There maybe much more on it. ;D

It's an odo flaw

Yeah , toyota's have flaws? ;D
The Matrix was still a good car otherwise. I remember when they were first introduced around 2003. Toyota tried to introduce it as a car younger people would buy for active lifestyles. Turned out all the old people bought them instead. Must be the corolla heritage. :o

It is 299,999, how’d you guess? :rofl2: Carfax said it was at 262k km back in 2014 so It’s somewhere in the 300s. A little annoying because I Iike using the odometer to keep track of my fuel consumption. Toyota charges about $500 to replace the cluster with a properly functioning one, which is about half the price as a goodwill measure.

I liked the 03-04 way better, it seemed they toned the styling down for 05-08 when they found out that old people liked them better. This is my first vehicle with EL gauges and no auto head lamps, how I don’t become one of those drive around without taillight types.

I know where there's a gauge cluster from an 05 with only 44,000kms on it.  For $100.   ;)

It should (as far as I know) have auto headlamps, although there would be no indicator for that on the light switch.

My base Vibe does, with a sensor under the windshield corner on the drivers side of the dashboard. I cover it with tape so the headlights are on all the time.

Nice choice!

My neighbour has had a fleet of first Gen Vibes for his carpet cleaning business. He says they've all been really cheap to run.

So are you selling the Sequoia or just adding to the fleet?

Awesome! I'm wondering which Toyota products have the 299,999 issue that I keep hearing about. I'm about to hit 290,000 on my LS and as far as I know, it should effortlessly roll over to 300,000 and continue onward from there...

These Matrixes (Matrices?) are surprisingly good driving little cars, and reasonably handsome too. Enjoy it!

Some early Prius and some Corollas IIRC.

I’ll figure that out next year. My Sequoia was regularly 300-500 lb over GVWR when towing the trailer so I knew we needed something more suitable. I might buy an 02-06 Chevy/GMC half ton like everyone was originally telling me to do, I might just rent whenever we are towing and forget about owning a truck, we’ll see.

What really prompted the move from Sequoia to Matrix is I’m off work for a few months and spending 15 cents a km driving was no bueno. Used a fraction of the money buying the Matrix and the rest is padding my bank account just in case so I don’t need to dip into my RRSPs.

You sold the Sequoia? If so did that turn out OK for you?

Ignore: I missed your announcement a few pages back. Back to the same owner? Thats funny.

1) Can you rent a truck with the towing capacity you need?
2) Are you allowed to tow with said truck?

I see a trailer sale in the future. The circle of life when it comes to trailer ownership lol.

Unfortunately the going price for a Sequoia dropped dramatically, I still got $3500 for it but I did pay $800 for the tires. So it cost me $2000 to own the Sequoia for 11 months. Probably the worst I’ve performed on any vehicle. Snagging the Matrix for the price I did made up for it. I’m in my comfort zone with sub $2000 vehicles.

That Matrix looks like a fantastic buy. Nicely done.

Thanks! To be honest, “would Arthur Dent buy this?” was my mantra.

Yes, UHaul allows towing with their pickup trucks and Enterprise Truck Rental allows towing with 3/4 and 1 ton pickup trucks.

Noooooo we love our trailer.
