I didn't realize that yesterday was my one year anniversary with my Odyssey. This also makes it the first time ever I've owned a second vehicle for more than a year. Verdict - I really like it and I'm not getting rid of it. As per my original post, I only paid $1,200 including tax on it and I think it was well worth it.
Put 10,400km on it, with a total essential running cost (excluding vehicle purchase price) so far = $3,495 or 33.6 cents a km
Breakdown on essential costs:
Transmission fluid and engine oil changes - $255
Transmission cooler - $80
New battery connections - $66
New exhaust flex pipe - $135
New starter - $345
Total = $881 = 8.5 cents per km
Gas - $1.574 60% city 40% highway
Insurance - $1,040 (was in storage for 3 months)
I didn't include the non essential mods:
Coilovers ($1125), Acura TL wheels with tires ($350)
Budgeted items in the next year:
Kms - holding steady at 10,500km.
Nordman WR All-Weather Tires for the Acura TL wheels - $774
Sale of old Bridgestone Blizzak winter tires (don't drive enough to justify two sets) - minus $300
Timing belt and water pump - $850
Engine and transmission oil change - $100
Gas - $1,600
Insurance - $1,320
Total - $4,344 or 41.4 cents a km.
That's if my transmission doesn't decide to bite the dust in the next year. If it does go, I'm leaning towards getting it rebuilt or a get a remanufactured unit from H&A Transmission based in Edmonton put in.
As she sits currently:
