Yup, that's the one unfortunate thing about this gen. BUT, a 4 foot wide piece of plywood will slide under the 3rd row seats as another user on this forum mentioned.  ;D And I get quite a bit more cargo space with all 7 seats up compared to the Sienna.

And my Sienna is sold. To a young guy that's between 6'-9" and 7'-0" who just arrived from the Czech Republic on a working holiday permit. I was worried during the test drive when his knees pretty much straddled the steering wheel, but he said he was used to it.

Look at the tire marks in the pavement! I want to set up a rogue autocross in this parking lot. This 367 car surface lot expansion cost $4.5 million for the region to build and currently sits empty.

Does this model have the power sliding doors and trunk by any chance? If so, do they still work? How's the AC as well?

DKaz, you'll have to register on odyclub.com where you'll find tons of info on all the DIY tricks for the gen2 Ody.

On mine, I had the regular gen2 small issues (clock light replacement, brake switch cleanup to restore cruise control, rear wiper dissasembly + re-lube) but none of the biggies - tranny and power doors rine fine for the nearly 10 years I had the van.

You'll also find plenty of mod ideas over there...

I'm already on odyclub.  ;D I pretty much have an account on every car specific forum for cars I've owned and considered owning. Haha.

I thought that MPV was a 3 at first. That 04-06 facelift was excellent.

So I heard the hip thing was to mount a transmission cooler outside the bumper...

Can't say I'm feeling it. lol. It'll go in the same place behind the grille. Also poured a bit of Seafoam Trans Tune into my transmission then did a drain and fill of the ATF. I did a drain and fill when I first got it in late June. If I look at this scale, it went from OK pre-Seafoam to Borderline after the Seafoam, back to Okay after the drain and fill. I'd like to get it to Good to New. but could I ever expect the ATF in the transmission to be a nice bright red? I did an ATF flush in the Sienna and even then the fluid was just Good, a little more dull. I was kinda disappointed.

Once I get a good baseline colour, I'll stick with a drain and fill every 12,000km. Overkill? Maybe. But it's easy to do, the fluid itself is inexpensive at $10.28 a litre at the local dealer (need 3.4L for a drain and fill), and given how notorious the Honda automatic transmissions of this era were for failing, it's cheap insurance.

A couple of photos. First off, we had a Mazda3 club dinner meet where only one Mazda but three generations of Honda Odysseys showed up. :rofl2:

And this happened today:

Coworker with a shop helped me install my coilovers. I didn't lower it all the way, just left it at the default from the factory setting and it was about 2" lower on the spot.

I didn't realize that yesterday was my one year anniversary with my Odyssey. This also makes it the first time ever I've owned a second vehicle for more than a year. Verdict - I really like it and I'm not getting rid of it. As per my original post, I only paid $1,200 including tax on it and I think it was well worth it.

Put 10,400km on it, with a total essential running cost (excluding vehicle purchase price) so far = $3,495 or 33.6 cents a km

Breakdown on essential costs:

Transmission fluid and engine oil changes - $255
Transmission cooler - $80
New battery connections - $66
New exhaust flex pipe - $135
New starter - $345
Total = $881 = 8.5 cents per km

Gas - $1.574 60% city 40% highway
Insurance - $1,040 (was in storage for 3 months)

I didn't include the non essential mods:
Coilovers ($1125), Acura TL wheels with tires ($350)

Budgeted items in the next year:
Kms - holding steady at 10,500km.
Nordman WR All-Weather Tires for the Acura TL wheels - $774
Sale of old Bridgestone Blizzak winter tires (don't drive enough to justify two sets) - minus $300
Timing belt and water pump - $850
Engine and transmission oil change - $100
Gas - $1,600
Insurance - $1,320

Total - $4,344 or 41.4 cents a km.

That's if my transmission doesn't decide to bite the dust in the next year. If it does go, I'm leaning towards getting it rebuilt or a get a remanufactured unit from H&A Transmission based in Edmonton put in.

As she sits currently:

Pretty good.  Been about 15 months since we had ours.  You keep good records of the car's expenses.  I just have a folder in the van.

IIRC, $5500 was the purchase price from Hannibal, with around 165k.

Water pump, timing belt, spark plugs, and ignition wire done at time of purchase - side job by a friend $800

Replaced front headlight bulbs - $55
Oil changes/Rotate Tires/Fluid Inspection/Brake Inspection - $275
Cabin Air Filter - $35
Wipers Blades - $70

Total - $435

Insurance - $925
Gas - ??? Don't keep track. $4300. Average 32k a year, average cost of gas is $1.17L, average tank is 11.5L/100km.

Total - $5225

Non Essential

Trailer hitch with electronic brake controller (still hasn't been used) - $900
Alpine Double Din Stereo - $250
Kenwood Speakers - $300

Total - $1450

To plan for:

Coolant Flush - $125
Transmission Flush - $150
Transmission Cooler - $75
All Weather Tires - $750 (these Dunlop that only have 45k suck, even at 30k they sucked)
Brake service - $200
Front Bumper Cover - $300, painted an extra $250

Hoping to do the first 3 myself, in the next couple of weeks, to save $$.  Front Bumper cover isn't essential, just trying to keep it looking good.

You're about 23.7 cents a km then, I got about 30 cents in my Mazda 5 when I was driving 30-40k km a year. So you're doing pretty good.

Interesting to note, I also drove about 10,500km in my Sienna and spent $1980 on fuel, although with 80% city duty and I used premium in that van since the owners manual recommended although didn't require it. The engine detuned itself from 194 to about 184 HP on regular fuel. So to have 210 HP on regular fuel is nice. 240 would be better...
