However, now that I'm caught up to speed, I have a question. Did you actually put premium fuel in the Toyota 3.0?

A few fill ups of 87, a few of 89, mostly to test power and fuel efficiency. Otherwise it's been all 91+. The engine seems to run so much smoother with premium gas. A knock sensor retards the timing when regular gas is used. There is hardly any fuel consumption difference between the different grades of gas otherwise. I gain a bit when I use ethanol free gasoline.

The Odyssey will not benefit whatsoever from using premium, so I'll save money there.

There is only one solution to this.

Looks good. The only way I can go that low is 1. A $4000 air bag suspension system, or 2. Cutting springs -- the lowest springs only drop the Odyssey 1.5".

And the Odyssey pictured is an EX. LXes have unpainted door handles.

Or someone painted the handles.  Or bought EX ones.  Personally, I don't get a mini-van that can't get over the bumps in a Safeway parking lot, but hey, to each their own...

Would make it easier to throw the lawn mower in though! Tried a little bit to find body colour door handles for my van, no luck.  Should I just spray paint them?  Primer, base coat, clear coat?

Haha. With Photoshop I could have done a better job but it would have taken longer than 30 seconds. This was the free Paint.NET

You gave me an idea for a new mod -- asphalt grinder.   ;D

I spotted another EX and up feature -- roof rails. Although they could easily be added to LX models.

I'm pretty sure the LX came with roof rails too... only the super-BAF models came without them. I might be wrong, though.

It was a dealer installed option on the LX. You can get the roof rails with cross bars for as low as $220 from the States. I also see cross bars for $110. I'm still wondering if I should install a 1-1/4" hitch

I did a quick search for LX and half of them have roof rails, half of them don't. That same search also showed that the average price of LXs are in the $2500-3500 range and EXs in the $3000-7000 range. I'm guessing the $7000 Odysseys have new transmissions in them.  ;D There is one EX going for $1895 with 384,000km on it. So $1200 taxes included is a good deal.

Go for a 2" receiver (but only Class II) if available...more attachment options to be found.

I don't want to be tempted to tow anything with the weaksauce transmission lol. But I agree, a basket for example is only available in 2" adapter. Bike racks can go either way.

That moment in life when you have two minivans on your driveway...

I uninsured the Sienna for now, it's not going to be a quick and easy sell as I thought it would. I wonder if 154.9 gas prices has anything to do with it?

It would take a lot longer if it was a truck with a V8!  Yeah I am kinda depressed when I see two vans in the driveway.  But at least one feels a lot more like a car.  Have to wait till I am back to work before I can make a change though!

The Mazda 5 is not a van! It's a space wagon with sliding doors.

Another car, another detailing challenge. The worst of it was this rusty surface stain on the back which I determined during my personal pre-purchase inspection was a result of spillage rather than something deeper.

I finally purchased my own Bissell Green Machine lightly used from some guy for a decent price, I chose this over the ProHeat auto care model which I borrowed from a friend last autumn because it didn't heat up the water so I had to put in my own hot water anyway. It keeps hot water hot for slightly longer but the water eventually cools down anyway, so I saw no point in wasting extra money and electricity getting the ProHeat version. Also used was Folex available at Canadian Tire and a hard bristle brush to agitate the area. The guy included a bottle of Bissell carpet cleaner which I tried but as my detailer buddy found, it's really not effective and Folex is a much better product. Spray, agitate, then plain hot water in the Bissell.

It's 80% there, it was getting too dark and I hadn't had dinner yet so I retired for the evening.

So that generation, the 3rd row folds as one piece?  Not a 60/40 split?
