Look back at history they are right less than 50% of the time.  They don't know jack.

Sure it will correct but when?  Tomorrow , next month, next year?  Nobody knows.

Had I listened and took everything out at the start of the year I would have missed 20% gain.

my data is showing a few stocks hitting a low for the year.   but that's a minor correction at best (so far)
meanwhile other stocks are still climbing.

They don't know jack.
that's so true!

nobody has a crystal ball.   While there are plenty of "signs" that a correction "is due" even that is now being debated.

if you're still in for a longer term, there's no reason to pull out, if you're comfortable with the potential of a downturn.   I'm looking at buying (with the little I have) but I'm still not seeing things low as I'd like.   I've also missed on a couple dips last week because I was hoping for lower.

at the end of the day you have to be comfortable with the risk.

The dips aren't even a blip on the overall scheme of things.  If we correct 10% and then go up we are laughing still.

Easy to say when you are young and don't have a 8 year window. If my portfolio drops 10%, that's a lot of money.

I haven't checked recently...but I'd guess I'm similar.  Though I may be down more as I have all my stuff in the riskiest funds..

Well yea, you're old.  So you can't afford as much risk.  I'm young still...so I'm quite a bit more tolerant to risk.

I'm sure my tune will change when I'm older.

I'm off in Sept too but with a large cash position so now I'm feeling clever looking for an entry point.

It's wise not to risk much closing in on retirement.

I am up 20% YTD and most of my portfolio is parked as at Monday. The news from China at the end of the week will determine if it stays there or not. 2014 has been a great year for investors but it all ended in August.

aside from commodities stocks, many of the individual stocks I like to track still really haven't dropped but if at all.    I keep looking for them to drop more but it's still not happening yet.

So about -3%  :)
You make an assumption which is incorrect.    3% of the funds that are susceptible to this downturn may be closer.

I personally feel that the market should just keep going up...slowly is fine, even very slowly but always up.  Other people may have falling markets if they wish but not me...I'm special.   ;D
