A $41,000 Impala?

For those of us used to seeing 3 year old Impalas selling for $14,000 that is quite a surprise.

I think I'll wait for the review of the more 'attainable' Impala 4 Cylinder.

Here we go, first post complaining of the price.  Keep in mind press car, GM loaded it to show off the features that you can get.  When you select one package, you must get others.  When you select Premium Audio and Sports Wheels, that makes you get Premium seating, Advanced Safety Package, and Convenience Package.  Since it's only a short article, it sounds expensive to say with these options $41k, but without these options, this car is still pretty loaded.  So the 2LT with the V6 can be had for $34,545 with freight, which is in the ballpark.  I have seen quite a few of these already.

It doesn't looks as good in that colour for some reason.. I wouldn't mind seeing these as taxis in a few years, though!

The SS isn't coming north of the border.

I think the price is in line with Avalon Limited, one of its direct competitors. It probably is more negotiable than Toyota.

drove this (from the looks same spec) at the GM fleet intro - was quite impressed. Very nice interior, good room and was very quiet on the road. Compares very well with a loaded up Taurus. WAY better than the old "rental quality" Impala

Unlike Wing, I drove many late '90s-early '00s Impalas at the eight of my rental car-based business trips. I loved the entry-level 'palas on the basis that everybody thought I was a cop. For a guy working in traffic studies, that made our surveys waayyy safer. I just parked them semi-hidden at the side of the road ... never had safer study sites  :popo:

Ive gotta say, bravo to GM for the Impala, its a great looking thing. Im sure for $41K you get every toy on the planet and a a sizable chunk of property, not my style, but a lot better looking than either the Taurus or Avalon.
Lighten up Francis.....

Long live the full-sized sedan!

I hope it sells...but to someone other than me.  ;D

Actually it does seem very good and should make for an epic (ok invisible) battle with the Taurus.

Had a 2003 LTZ, drove a 2006 SS, loved them all.

The new one /w 300+ HP must be fun to drive, for a full size of course.  Had a 2003 Taurus SEL, no TQ below 2,500 rpm, didn't like it.

Maybe I'll take one for a test drive next year, after the snow goes away.

My 2¢'s :)

My brother had one years ago, 2001 I think.  Nice car but forgettable.   Rented them several times, same story.  Haven't driven this one yet but it better be leaps and bound better or it will be discounted to $18.5K real soon.

I seen my first one today at the LCBO, looks impressive. GM has come a long way in the design/styling department for a mainstream sedan.

Good car with bad price! Now GM is going to have problem with seniors, fleet sales and police departments...

This must be one of those cars that makes a better impression in the metal than in photos - I still can't see what is prompting all the good looks kudos.
