Agreed.

But seriously, about F***ing time that Nissan updated the Titan.  I think this diesel engine offering is great, but they should also consider offering a smaller diesel as well (something around 3-3.5L).  Maybe consider even putting the smaller diesel in the Frontier.

:o :o WHAT!!! The Nissan is getting a good diesel before the big 3?!?!!? They could keep the heavily outdated interior and I know where to get a rear axle for it that will last more than a few oil changes, Ill take one  ;D
Lighten up Francis.....

This sounds like the engine that was originally supposed to go into both the Titan and the Ram 1500 a few years ago. Nissan certainly needs some sort of hook to get people into a Titan.

GM has a 4.5L that was shown in the SEMA show back in 2007. It's production ready as far as I know. Ford is currently producing the 4.4L for Range Rover. It'll be interesting to see if they follow suit.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

mentioned it in that other thread... can't see how this would end up in a light duty with those kinds of numbers... would be a bit of a waste. i'm sure it could be altered to be more for daily driving, not torque for pulling... but then, whats the point in doing it at all?

still interesting and i'd like to see where they go from here.

I think it will definitely be a half ton.  The numbers are too far short of what the big 3 are putting in 3/4 ton trucks these days.  What it will be is a half ton that can tow 7-8000 with ease and still get reasonable mileage.  Now whether or not Nissan can build a good truck is my only concern.

True for the ones built in the last 10 years, +/- 1 year, with exception to certain models and model years.

My truck is a first year model, bought it used.  It's been great.  :)

Precisely. Just trying to show that jukes post is far from the truth.

First crack at the big pickup market, yes it was a POS, first big Tundra was equally a POS, lot's of stories out there.  I said it before only the D3 are in the truck business, but what Nissan is attempting with this engine is interesting just the same.

I wonder which actor will provide the inspirational 'voice overs' in commercials for Nissan's new Cummins Diesel.

In any event, Dodge has their new V6 Diesel coming out soon so Diesels are finally going beyond the
Heavy Duty end of the market.

Maybe the Diesel from the Cruze would be a good fit for Chevy's upcoming Colorado.

I think this is a great idea and doing something different than the D3 companies is a great way to get some kind of market share.  It's so hard to compete with the D3, especially if you can't put a better powertrain in the vehicle.  I really wish they would offer a smaller diesel in their Frontier and I hope that Toyota finally gets their act together and offers a diesel in their Tundra.  I wait to see the final towing capacity and fuel economy rating for this vehicle before I say it's a complete hit.  I'm not so worried about styling and interior as any change from last model will be an improvement (especially if you have an ex Ram guy building it).

I was surprised by how much the V6 diesel in the Ram is rated at towing.  I think I read it is just as much as the Ecoboost.  The fuel economy numbers haven't been released yet to my knowledge but I'm sure it will be better than their own class leading Pentastar 3.5L V6, and actually capable of achieving those numbers.
