The thing is, I love the S2000, Ive been in one and it was a fantastic car.

Oh, baby, yeah.  I'm fortunate enough to have a reasonable amount of left-seat time in an S2K, and I LOVE it.  It's still a benchmark for chassis engineering.  Thanks to the "low" power, there are cars faster around a track, but it would be tough to be more satisfying.

Well, maybe a Radical...

Most mornings during the summer I step out of the mud room into the garage and walk past the Awesome TT-RS and jump into the 9 year old S2000. Call me crazy.

I haven't been fortunate enough to drive a lot of the higher end cars that some of you have.  Living in NB, I don't exactly have access to test drive Porsches, Audis, etc.  So my driving experience in various higher end cars is next to zilch.  I have driven the new 5.0 Mustang, and while I really LOVED it a LOT, I still get more enjoyment and sh!t eating grins from my S2000.  I would LOVE to take the new Boxster S out for a test drive.......and there would be a chance that I'd not want to give it back.   :)

@ rrocket,....and a lowly 240HP/160tq S2000 would also be an example of what you're talking about.

The thing is, I love the S2000, Ive been in one and it was a fantastic car.

So do you think an S2000 sucks because the new Vette is faster?

A Cayman/Boxster is an S2000...but better in EVERY way.  Stew on that, and get back to us.

Id take an S2000 over a Boxster/Cockster.......even though its slower and older and doesnt have that "whoa, you drive a Porsche" factor.
Lighten up Francis.....

The S2000 is easily one of the best handling cars Ive ever driven.....and even though its only got a 4 banger, what a hell of an engine, just screams....and that gearbox...wow. The M3 isnt exactly chopped liver though.......

Why though?  Just because you hate Porsche?  Don't like the looks?  This makes no sense to me, since the Porsche twins are spiritual clones of an S2000.

Ive never liked the looks of them, the fact that the factory pre cripples them so they wont step on the toes of the 911 and the cost.....never have done anything for me. This is definetly a car in the category that should cause you to do a double take, the Boxster/Cockster have never done anything for me in that sense. Also, I love Porsches, 911, 959, 944, 968....and many more, Ive always drooled over them. Hell, even the Cayenne Turbo S is still one of those ridiculous "if I could, I would" cars.

I've often toyed with the idea of a 944 Turbo.  Fast, outhandles a 911 by a good margin, and I still like the look.  Then I think about how they lack the insanely high level of aftermarket support the older 911s have and the running costs.  And once again, a 1989-ish 911 seems like the best "normal person" Porsche...

...and one I'd much rather have than a Boxster, save for the newest one.

I get where Fob is coming from - if the emotional attachment isn't there, it isn't there
Another example for me is Mustang/Camaro.  Both equally capable cars, but I love the Mustang, hate the Camaro.  No doubt both would put a grin on my face behind the wheel, but the comic book styling of the Camaro means I wouldn't buy it even if it was 1/2 the cost of the Mustang

I'm in the Porsche camp here as for me precision > brute force

Got my Car and Driver today. Most of the magazine is dedicated to the 50 years of the 911. Then there is the C7 and 911 comparo. C7 wins 207 vs. 202. The C7 scored 20 points for price while the 911 got 1 point  :rofl2:

I've seen in certain comparos where a car gets 5 points for having a back seat.  Let me guess...they didn't use it in this comparo?

Price and value is always subjective. A car that's worth 20K more than another to one buyer isn't worth even 1k more to the next.

Well, value is certainly subjective...but I'm pretty sure price is objective!  Unless you're talking about the comparos where they try to shoehorn price into their semi-quantitative scoring scheme?

RWD engineered from the ground up great handling roadster over (albeit awesome) AWD Coupe that shares platform with a Skoda Octavia (a fine car in its own right)?   I'd call you pretty smart. (Plus the platform in that TT dates from 2006, so it's not like it's state of the art anymore either.)
