Car and Drivers first test:

That's one sweet @ss car!!!  I'll admit that I'm not overly fond of the rear profile.........but I'm sure a few seconds behind the wheel it would be a forgotten matter!!

The hypocrisy is funny though.

Not a negative peep in the article about the e-diif and traction management that doesn't allow the car to spin the tires in corners, electronic shocks, nor about the auto rev-matching manual shifting.  Or "no penalties for attempting to explore the car’s colossal performance envelope" because of said electronic nannies.

If this were an import car, it would be blasted for these very same things and it would be called "soul less" and "robotic".

But hey, it's a Vette, so it's all good!   ;D
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

So many electronic nannies that do the work for you, I think it's safe to call it America's GT-R!!   ;D

These cars are becoming so powerful and have such high capabilities, the only way a typical owner can even dream of driving one is with some serious intervention.

I agree.  But was just saying how when import's have this level of intervention it's "artificial" or "soulless" or "robotic" or "not a driver's car".  But when a domestic has these things, they never say a word.

Remember the furor when the 370Z had the rev match shifting?  I remember more than one "real enthusiasts need not apply" comments.

That is why I have a blast driving the S2000. There is much joy in executing a corner properly knowing there is risk involved in making a error. At times in the TTRS I come out of a situation not fully understanding how I managed to make it successfully.

Quattro?  ;)

the more i look at it, the less i like the vette's new look... love the spec though.   maybe it will grow on me and i'll pick one up used in few years.

Driving thrills makes my wallet lighter.. and therefore makes me faster because i'm shedding weight... :D

I like everything except the rear.  Still seems ugly and out-of-place to me (too camaro-ish, a design I really don't like).

But whatever, I can live with the styling given the ridiculous levels of performance at the price.  Make mine all black with a gaudy red interior.

The Caymans cute and all but I dont know how one can even compare them. I mean the base model has 275 horses and 215 lb-ft of torque, wouldnt have the good brakes, probably no LSD, not the sports suspension....nothing. Sure, you can stick on a few options or go for the S model....FOR $75K!!!! For the $15-20K you have left over you can throw some of it at the Vette and truly make it a supercar killer...as for the Cayman, its a fancy Miata, but Id still rather take the Miata than a Cayman.

For me, there is no sense in blowing $70k on a Boxster or a Coxster, never saw the attraction to them, never will. Especially when something thats available on the market for $20K less will blow the Coxster out out of the water. Boxster=Miata, Coxster=FR-S...Im sorry. IMO of course.

If this was about prior models I'd say Cayman but the new Vette is over the top at the right price to boot.
Nothing like the growl of an V8 to wake up the posers.

So, it looks like these two cars create a polarity for most people...an obvious either / or type of thing...with Fobroader still on the fence.

Im an unabashed 911 snob.....so that might be the case  ;D

I don't know if I'm a snob ( not really head over heels about either car) but I'm old enough that I can't really shake the Guido image the Corvette has in my mind from the 70's-80's  ;D
