For $53K USD – Cayman or Corvette?

We've been reading commentary for both lately and since it looks like they can both be had for the same price, and, both are driver's cars (yet very different) it may make for good conversation...which would you rather own?

If I lived where there were curves in the road...I don't know. Assuming I'd have to drive close to the speed limit most of the time...I don't know. Instinctively I want to reach for the Corvette, then I think about how I'd actually use the car and I wonder.

Corvette for me too.

I'd have to stock up on gold chains, hair dye and Brute aftershave first though.  ;D

I think the Cayman would be easier to live with longer term   (and it's a Porsche not a GM  ;D :stick: )

Surprisingly enough, the Corvettes have been one of the most reliable cars you can get for a number of years now..

Im sorry, but the Vette will be much cheaper to run and be more reliable than the FGC.

Cayman for me too.  I like FGCs and could live with any of this supposed unreliability.

Cayman, no question.

Unless I had a track nearby and time to go more than once a summer. Then I'd probably go 'Vette.

Tough call.

On initial thought, I'd say Cayman.  But it's tough.  I don't drive twisty roads that often, so I might prefer the V8 power for big grin stoplight acceleration....

I'll lock in Cayman, but a test drive of both could certainly sway me.

Vette for sure.

And you can fit two large suitcases (or golf bags) in the Vette hatch! Way more usable as a DD.

Yup, that'd sway it for me too.  Golfing road trip in the Vette!
But I wouldn't kick a Cayman out of the garage...

not a tough call at all.   cayman.

Well I dunno, how many of us have driven a 2014 Cayman or 2014 C7?  Let alone both!   Hell, how many have even sat in both?

It's pretty tough to state with any certainty how you'd spend $53k USD unless the cars serve completely different purposes.  (ie.  Yukon vs. Vette).

Case in point:  I was 99.9% certain I would buy a 2010 GTI 3 yrs ago, but a test drive of the WRX blew me away.  Enough that I could live with the relatively shitty interior.

Same applies here I think.  I 'believe' I'd prefer the Porsche's interior, handling, "feel", etc.   But maybe the C7's performance is so mind-blowing (not to mention it's other improvements...), I couldn't help but pick the Vette!

So yes, I prefer the Cayman, but it ain't a slamdunk.
