i've never been a mustang guy... i was too young to appreciate the generation weels is mentioning... and the ones guys were getting when i was in high school were the generation that just screamed "girl car"...

but i have to say the value proposition of the base v6 manual coupe... wow... for 24g's, that is hard to beat. i've never been one to look up the prices on these because as i mentioned, i'm not a mustang guy, but that is a hell of a deal. i wouldn't hesitate to suggest it to someone else without my ford hang-ups.

this particular car... it's nice. but i'm with the group on here who are "meh" on the mustang convertibles. the engine does it's best to sway me, but it's not quite there.
i used to be addicted to soap, but i'm clean now

Any of you guys can have the one that I am not going to buy.  To me it is just an oversized, overengined , cart sprung dinosaur.  The '60s really have gone you know.

Now a REAL Mustang as a garage queen with an HV plate  only used to go to meets...ok.

Im with you, I went through high school in the mid 90's and all the rich kids got Mustangs, GT's for the boys, V6 convertibles for the girls. There was a guy on our street that had an 93 Cobra......oh my sweet jesus I was in love

Lighten up Francis.....

No.  The Laguna was FASTER.

Here's the plain old Mustang GT lapping as quick as an M3  http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/coupes/1010_2011_2011_ford_mustang_gt_vs_2011_bmw_m3_comparison/viewall.html

Doesn't surprise me at all.  There ain't no replacement for displacement.   Not to mention the "road hugging weight ( not that the M3 is exactly a Colin Chapman cart!)

I am HAPPY that those who fondly remember the days of their youth in Canada/USA  are able to buy what appears to be a really good retro Mustang... but is is not in my past if you see what I mean.

Love the colour of that Mustang!!  If I were to ever get a Mustang, it would be the 5.0L and it would also be a convertible.

I *think* that MG is a TA which was well before my time but it could be earlier.  A buddy of mine had a TC and I inherited from someone else a J2 but sadly I had nowhere to keep it.

My *time* was the Mk1 Sprite ( bugeye) and the Mk1 Mini  owned one and learnt to drive in the other.

In that era, you needed a V8 for the car to have guts.  I preferred the 5.7L Pontiac Firebird WS6 Package.  That made around 300HP, the same as todays V6!

"Then there’s the solid rear axle Panhard setup that, no matter how much it evolves, will never approach the roadholding capability of a more sophisticated independent rear suspension. Those mid-corner bumps will get you every time."

I drove my friend's 2013 V6 Mustang over the weekend, and that live rear axle drives me insane.  :shake:

Other than that and the massive steering wheel, it was alright. I'd love to test drive a manual V8 convertible though.  ;D

What would a Mustang review be without a snipe about the solid axle?  Doesn't seem to hold back track performance.

On a track no, but in real world driving it is a concern.

I dunno - I have come to embrace the bucking as part of the vehicle's "bad assness".  Of course, perhaps I have become the modern equivalent of those who practically took to the streets in protest back when the 302 went EFI.
