Test Drive: 2013 Audi A4 Allroad

It's not quite the Audi All-things-to-all-people, but the new Allroad successfully blends crossover style and capabilities with sedan-like road manners and efficiency.

I like this tall wagon but if you are shopping Audi the Q5 with the 2.0T for less money and more cargo space is a better option in my opinion .

I object to this being called a crossover or in any way associated with one. That sullies the bloodline. I know it is to stimulate sales because these days crossovers are like Apple products, but still...it is a wagon. A taller one with some offroad pretensions, but a wagon nonetheless. Why are people afraid of wagons?
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

No creases wagon...could they make a 2WD cheaper?...er. for me. What's not to like except the gauges. I will give it my lowest rating...'it's nice'.
Weeell..can't allow myself to 'like it'. Hmm.. even a little bit.

I'd love to see a comparison of this vehicle segment. Personally, I don't consider these crossovers, but rather they are BETTER because they tend to handle more like a sedan and generally weigh less as well, so fuel economy is better as well as handling. Still wish Audi, Subaru and Volvo would bring across the non-"crossover" versions of their wagons to North America.

In other words....when you convert it back to an A4 Avant (albeit one with nice body kit).

In a vacuum this seems like a perfectly fine vehicle, the only negatives to me are everything that differentiates it from a standard Avant.   I agree with Snowman, the Q5 looks like a better value.

Many of us like wagons but I don't see anybody buying one  :)

I bought one  ;D  (through somewhat unique circumstances...)

Cause all the wagons [you'd want] cost 50-60-70K +

If you want to subsidize my CTS-V wagon, Dad, I'll order it this afternoon.

How much did the MDX cost  :)

You facker.

Kristi not interested in wagon (wants to sit up high). So hey, she doesn't get on my case about what I buy so I return the favor.  Wagon in the family would have to be mine, and so, needs to be a sport wagon.

Crossing fingers for a ATS and/or ATS-V wagon. That would be the bomb.

I hear ya  :) but now Heather realizes that down here along the Gold Coast a wagon would have been a better choice vs. the Venza.

Ditto to that. Add the new GLK diesel to the option list, and the "allroad" just keeps going down. I like everything about the car but it's overpriced.

I prefer wagons intended for onroad only...especially at this price. As others have said, may as well get a CUV.

I dont agree with that, a wagon handles better, they look way better (IMO of course) and are just as "utilitarian" as any small CUV.

agreed. The only advantage a small CUV has over a wagon is ride height and possibly ground clearance. If those are positives to you, then your decision is already made. Me, I consider those detractors: I like my wagons lowered and feeling like the sleek machines they are, not some tractor.

The VW Golf TDI wagon with DSG tranny cost around 32K!

This is why I don't care for the Allroad, it's not a real wagon.

I'd say it's as much a 'real wagon' as an AMG shooting brake ;D
