lucky guy. All S4s were/are amazing to drive [having driven a B5, B6, and B8]. Kinda miss the snarl of that V8 but there is no denying the thrust of that supercharged 6. I also agree, Audi certainly know how to do a manual transmission...
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

This is good car for an ideal balance between needing a stylish sedan and wanting performance with a modicum of luxury (whatever that is). All without breaking the bank.

This is good car for an ideal balance between needing a stylish sedan and wanting performance with a modicum of luxury (whatever that is). All without breaking the bank.

Looks like the 2013 has some nice upgrades over the 2011 such as improved MMI interface and functions, flat bottom wheel, alloy pedals (easy after market at least) and minor interior / exterior updates. 19" wheels do look nicer than the std 18's, but not sure I'd give up ride quality for them. $500 is a deal though - was $1000 in 2011. Carbon atlas trim also adds a nice touch for $500.

No regrets though after 2 and a bit years and 45,000km, except maybe the colour as Deep Sea blue is as hard as black to keep looking good.

Had one issue which was noticed and corrected during routine service (oil leak from the rear differential), other  than which it has been bullet proof to date.

Running costs to date have been:

$350: 3 scheduled services (oil & filters plus one brake fluid change) - estimate $350 as they are covered as part of $750 AudiCare package which also includes 55 and 70k services

$120: One additional synthetic  oil & filter change - just because I felt 15k was a bit of long interval on a car I intend to keep a while. Meant that I serviced it at 8, 18, 29, 40 k km's rather than scheduled 8, 25 and 40.

$5,800 for gas - lifetime average of 10.00 l/100km

$0: speeding tickets (so far)....

Nice! Your lifetime gas mileage is exactly the same as my Berlin taxi.

I dig these flat bottom steering wheels. Looked at the pictures again too...what a pretty car.

Shocked that the flat bottom wheel is new to this car now as it comes factory on the GTi's since at least 2009. Was it at least an option before?

Yeah, I agree, it should have been std equipment from the start. No official option for pre-2013, though I'm sure you could probably fit one to the older cars but likely $1000 - $1500 I would guess. I assume it was a way to differentiate the "S" models from the "RS" ones that all had the flat wheel (I think).

The extra space between seat and wheel would be nice to have, plus it does finish off the look so much better.

Hmmn, trade in now justified :)

and generally Southampton is hard on undercarriages in terms of rust.  I examined my wife's RX350 from 2007 and was a bit shocked.
Scaling of drive shafts has begun and you do NOT want to lose balance weights off a drive shaft.  I have done nothing to A7 and to be frank,
have always worried about playing with manufacturer's drain holes.

No, have not done anything.
Previous cars were replaced at ages of 8ys (99 Golf), 11 yrs (01 Saab) and (currently) 8 yrs (05 9-2x) and I've never had any visible rust or needed to replace any components due to corrosion.

Felt the same way about not wanting to drill holes / mess with stuff and the last 3 cars would seem to indicate that there's no need to these days.... we shall see :)
